Save you a click: it’s the use of X, as found by this linked study.

What's X, do you mean Twitter?

kadjar | 22 hours ago

I usually call it Twitter, but the propaganda and polarization engine exclusively for the right wing is the unique and defining feature for the product called X, so I felt that it was appropriate in this case.

I call it Xitter, with an Sh sound. Best of both worlds, and accurate.

troet | 17 hours ago

So instead of tweets it's X-crements now?

LongDukDongle | 20 hours ago

It's Twitter. The platform formerly known as marginally worthwhile.

Oh my God this is not new!! This has been happening since the birth of social media. And it's been well-documented for the last decade!!

There are whole ass books about it!! And they're not new!! Jesus. Read, people! Read! Read! Read!!!

> The algorithm group was even more likely to hold pro-Kremlin views on the war in Ukraine

Because Mush and MAGA are pro-Russia, pro-imperialism and anti-democracy. I'm sure this is in no small part due to Xitter and the copious Russian bots that operate there.

Zank_Frappa | 13 hours ago

Name a US president who is not pro-imperialist

The last blunder a democrat did was the Ngo Diem's fuckup

Zank_Frappa | 6 hours ago

lol

edit: and calling the RNC anti-democracy yet ignoring when the DNC ratfucked Bernie and later on forced Kamala on voters without a primary, even funnier. Libs have absolutely zero self awareness.

Keep dreaming in your alternative world where boomers existing and not being super progressive is a conspiracy

Strange, the nominee chosen in the 2024 primaries was not on the ballot in November. That doesn't seem very democratic to me??? Shouldn't the people get a say in who they vote for?

Are you going to keep making questions for longer, rather than thinking to why you are piling up whiny excuses over excuses?

KH was always part of the ticket, and it seems dumb to argue the switch (per se) was a liability.

This is not accidental either. Twitter regularly sends me notifications that I absolutely must see yet another vile tweet from some far right jack-ass. Doesn't matter how many times I said "less of that" or systematically blocked or muted any accounts that gets promoted to me that way, it keeps on happening.

Other platforms might argue that they're merely constructing a taste profile to optimize engagement, but X is painfully, obviously dedicated to bias toward fascist takes, engagement be damned.

If in fact a social platform can shift a persons politics in one direction then another social platform can shift it another.

We're not trying hard enough.

Twitter's algorithm will always try to flood my timeline with far-right and racist content. To Musk, me not liking my left-wing president (and other left wing dictatorships in the region) is the same as me being a nazi.

Not me

Disclaimer: I hate both political parties, perhaps all political parties.

But like, remember when Republicans used to winge non-stop about "liberal media bias" and the left was all "quit your fucking crying you babies" and then fox news showed up and the left was like that's the DEVIL but THEN fucking both sides were like "hold my beer" and now we have Huff Po and fucking Brietbart.

PEPRIDGE FARMS FUCKING REMEMBERS.

I fucking hate both you guys.... read a diversity of shit, don't have social media accounts the algorithms suck. Try to think for yourself and consider what would also have to be true for everything you read.

> and now we have Huff Po and fucking Brietbart.

On one side.. a normal newspaper, that is quoting a study published on nature.

On the other, fucking nazis.

Jee it's so hard to take a side

This is especially likely for Reddit.

Users constantly exposed to a false consensus, bot comments and obvious narrative pushing done for the left/socialist & sometimes communist ideas/talking points would in theory push people to the right.

You see, most people are normal/moderate.

When they constantly encounter ridiculous narratives and are presented stories that omit key facts (that are easily found elsewhere) in an attempt to politicize just about everything it becomes apparent they’re being manipulated somehow.

Since many of these said ideas border on fringe or sometimes extremist it naturally pushes people in the opposite direction.

Reddit is literally creating more right voters, when it appears they’re trying to promote the opposite.
