Staci Turner is the Mississippi State Medical Examiner, a position she was appointed to in 2021. Turner conducted the initial autopsy of Nolan Wells, a young Black man who was found dead on a popular barrier island after 4th of July celebrations. Wells was the only Black person in his friend group the day he went missing, everyone else returned home safe. Some of Wells' white friends have parents in influential positions, including Jackson County Chancery Judge Ashlee Cole, fueling public suspicions. So too has the premature conclusions of law enforcement that "no foul play" had occurred related to Wells' death, before an investigation was finished. Turner maintained possession of some of Well's body parts, including his throat, which complicated the independent autopsy commissioned by Well's family.
This article delves into Turner's troubling history of suspicious or outright disproven autopsies of Black people whose families fear they were lynched. This includes the death of Damien Cameron, who was killed by police involved in Mississippi's "Goon Squad," who were allowed to return to work--torturing and raping Black people--based on Turner's findings. (One member of the Goon Squad was later found guilty of such crimes, and sent to prison). Independent autopsies in that case contradicted Turner's claims that Cameron's death was "inconclusive," when in fact other medical examiners were able to rule Cameron's death a homicide.
Putting Trey Reed in this article is wild. Ben Crump has refused to turn over the independent autopsy results which would PrOvE that Turner’s autopsy was flawed.
The fact that it’s even considered suspicious since we literally have video footage from the university AND suicide texts from Reed to his GF is wild.

Who is "we"? And video footage of what, exactly? Or are you making wild assumptions about what the video shows to fit what you think happened?
