The body in the wheelchair: How did a troubled family get lost by the state?

What a grim story. It kind of reminds me of this famous article:
https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/michelledean/dee-dee-wanted-her-daughter-to-be-sick-gypsy-wanted-her-mom

I know there are those who doubt the facts of that case so I’m not going to comment on that, but both articles are about young women forced to use wheelchairs by mothers who controlled their lives. In this case, Tracy was actually sick but you have to wonder how she would’ve turned out if she’d had a supportive, well-off family and more active services from the council.

What an incredibly sad story. Both women were failed spectacularly.

“Not long afterwards, Tracey lost access to the jobseeker’s allowance she had once received. The DWP did not make clear to the coroner - or to The Londoner when we asked recently - why her income suddenly stopped, but it would be the last time she received state support. The family made multiple applications for Tracey to be moved onto disability benefits, but without a registered GP to contact to corroborate her condition, they were rejected.”
