Why are European countries moving their gold out of North America?

Because Trump is not our ally. He is an enemy of the European Union.

But I thought they were moving it out of Canada as well.

That gives us a hint of what Europe thinks could happen to Canada.

That is not the reason; this way they can state it is not due to the current administration in the US but more a general measure.

Because we don't trust them anymore. They've clearly shown they aren't allies or friends anymore.

I hate this so much. So many Americans are like myself and still love our European and Canadian friends but this admin has made it clear they are hostile to anyone that doesn’t bend the knee and we are suffering globally for it

MrGoblinKing7 | 17 hours ago

I think he means the country itself as a global entity is not a reliable friend or ally.

Every individual American not in government could be the sweetest guy or gal, but so long as the Russian puppet is in control of what the nation dose, our former allies have every right to be disgusted with America.

Carameldelighting | 17 hours ago

Oh I understood, but we have 2 more years minimum of Trump and if he’s alienating allies this early and quickly I don’t see a path back to friendly relations despite how the population feels

FaceDeer | 15 hours ago

The problem is exactly "how the population feels" though. Trump is a symptom, not the root cause. It's going to take generational turnover unfortunately.

I know there's some within America who didn't want this, but there were too many that did.

Why is it even a question?

I’m American and even I get it.

Republican voters decided we don’t need anyone else, as they have been convinced we are the supreme global power that is self sufficient. They are absolute idiots, and headed for a world of hurt. This will all backfire.

Some 86 tonnes from the combined total of about 313 tonnes held in the US and Canada were relocated to London "in view of increasing geopolitical unrest", it said, so the shiny stuff could be "readily available for use in a crisis situation".

hoofie242 | 18 hours ago

The fact they took it out of Canada concerns me.

FaceDeer | 15 hours ago

I looked up the details and it's not so bad. Less than 10% of the transferred gold came from Canada and now with what's left over there's an exactly equal split between gold stored in Canada and gold stored in the US. So the changes in Canadian gold storage might just be a side effect.

The world no longer trusts Americans leaders. Their words are worthless and their actions are typically harmful or cruel.

rewardingsnark | 15 hours ago

Because US economy is collapsing and controlled by psychopath fascists and criminals

Where the hell have you been for the past two years?

aprole | 20 hours ago

Wouldn’t you?
