I have a decided preference for small cars, so this trend pains me.
I drove a Ford Focus for years, and currently drive a Chevy Spark. I wonder if anything similar in size will exist when it comes time for me to get something new.
I bought a new Chevrolet Spark in 2021 and it has been an excellent car. Great gas mileage and it was under $14k brand new. It has no bells and whistles except Apple car play. I still marvel at the fact that you could buy a brand new vehicle for that price. Those days are long gone.
I got my driving license in the UK earlier this year. I'm originally from the states. I would amuse my instructors by complaining about the fecking bellends in their huge trucks driving in the narrow london streets as if they've got anything to haul. Those bloody lifted Ford trucks make little sense in the US, truly makes my eyes bleed witnessing them in London.
Even in New Zealand. Most new cars are so big. And our roads are REALLY not designed for it in the cities. With fuel prices as high as they are at the moment it seems particularly crazy.
Drove a Honda Fit for 16 years and when it got totalled in 2024, I got a Civic and I don’t really like it. Too big for me. I should just sell it and buy a 2020 Fit … I only drive about 7K miles a year.

For real, though — the Honda Fit is a nice ride if you like a small yet roomy car. Same with the Kia Soul.

I have a Fiesta ST and am planning to keep it for another 7-8 years before getting an EV.
I'm hoping there will be a hot hatch EV by then within similar functionality to my car.
