Couple years back I drove west from Michigan and from South Dakota to the Pacific Ocean the land was on fire. You couldn’t escape the smoke. It’s becoming a regular thing.
Haven’t read article yet, but it’s funny that it’s framed as a war. It’s our failure to engage with fire as a land management/restoration tool that caused this mess. The native people used it as their friend, not foe
It's our failure to address climate change because corporate profit is too important. You can do all the cold burning and management you want which might protect some infrastructure, but it's not going to stop a fire when it hasn't rained in 3 months and there are catastrophic winds and a 110 degree day. Also enjoy having entire counties that are uninsurable.
