Several officials told me that Patel’s drinking has been a recurring source of concern across the government. They said that he is known to drink to the point of obvious intoxication, in many cases at the private club Ned’s in Washington, D.C., while in the presence of White House and other administration staff. He is also known to drink to excess at the Poodle Room, in Las Vegas, where he frequently spends parts of his weekends. Early in his tenure, meetings and briefings had to be rescheduled for later in the day as a result of his alcohol-fueled nights, six current and former officials and others familiar with Patel’s schedule told me.
Not built but deconstructed. Or a bunch of spinning plates now wobbling. There is a real American Empire somewhere buried deep right now and it was built on the backs of immigrants- all of us- walking all over the desecrated First Nations.
As if “the current administration” ever built anything- it’s robbing the whole world. Consuming us and calling us consumers.
Near the end of the article, they touch on a point that I was thinking about making with ironic, corny humor. I'm closer to retirement than the beginning of my own career. 1 or 2 times, when there is a really toxic, arrogant, incompetent boss, we are better off with a leadership vacuum than when he is around. I could tell you 'the FBI director is MIA' with a more positive attitude...now, some of us can get some useful work done while no one is watching. Now, evidence can be gathered and preserved by competent, honest agents who are economical with what they share with Washington DC, and we can seek justice after 2028 for crimes that may still be within the statute of limitations.
This is not a good scenario at all, but we may be better off with no director at all than with this one sober and in his office at 8 AM every morning. Let him be unconscious somewhere if his immediate underlings know to never tell him anything important...maybe this applies to other federal senior executive branch roles.

Isn’t constantly being blotto how the American empire was built in the first place?

Maybe in Hollywood depictions but not likely in reality.

I mean if I found myself in charge of the FBI I’d probably be excessively drinking too. Because I am in no way qualified!

Like most of Trump's administration we are paying for them to be drunk/not sober all the time and have fancy dinners where they barely touch the food.
It's really sickening how so many people don't want to talk about it
