To me slop implies carelessness and an insufficiency to serve its intended purpose. I do not believe that applies to everything that is produced with AI.
AI is indeed careless. To put it simply, mega corporations racing to steal all the data they can, get users addicted to their free models, and then waiting to pull the rug forcing everyone to pay them all while destroying the environment, hurting tech prices, and affecting the global economy. Not to forget that it is a fact that AI code is demonstrably worse and is setting corporations and users up for failure by relying on thousands of lines of code with little coherent thought behind it.
If one is going to make slop, just keep it to yourself as it is completely meaningless when anyone can make the same garbage.
Ideas and objects made in this world can be considered beautiful because a human put part or all of their life towards its creation. Taking away any human thought and letting a corporation that just wants to use you do it it not a good decision.
Finally, if one cannot be bothered to code the software then one very well may not be bothered with reviewing it for potential security issues.
Does not sound careful or sufficient to my use or those with morals beyond a good enough (差不多) end result.

The companies have no moat. It's a race to the bottom. Even AI labs that are laughably behind are only 6-10 months behind.

I think with some effort, far less than with doing it manually, it clears the bar of the average software quality of yesteryear.
I'll avoid going further point-by-point but I feel the above explains my perspective well enough.
There are a bunch of arguments being made here. I am only focusing on the quality one. It is completely obvious that you can improve the quality of your software with AI. I am running a team of 5 people and merely by offloading initial triage of inbound customer support requests to AI we are fixing more bugs. No code gen required. Just let it rip on cross correlating logs and traces. Does it sometimes get it wrong? Yes. Is that easy to spot? Yes. Is the software getting better faster because of AI? Yes. You can also use AI for background security hardening and performance testing. In both cases you can have verifiers that don't depend on AI. It can run in the background while you do other stuff.
Lastly there are plenty of features that AI can one-shot faster than most software developers at equivalent quality or better. That might sting but I think a lot of people massively overestimate the talent of the average dev. It's not pretty out there.
Saying all AI usage in coding is slop and negligence and inevitably makes software worse is unserious and will redirect the debate away from questions that matter (IP theft, environment, deskilling, labour displacement with zero plan).
Given that the repo has an AGENTS.md present, and filled with information to direct agents how to act, I would say yes

I freely use vibe-coded or slop pejoratively as umbrella terms (edit: it's 100% unnecessary to semantically distinguish between genAI use that pretends to be "responsible" vs. that which is obvious junk- both types of use should be opposed in every case as all genAI use is irresponsible ethically and indefensible politically) to refer to any commercial, personal, or open-source project, output, or situation where LLMs/agents/genAI is involved at any stage, for any reason, period, and no I will not stop. its use in any situation for any reason is a *political choice* that undebatably crosses a line for me for a hundred reasons (the only exception being those forced to use it for their labor)- that doesn't mean I can 100% avoid everything that uses it, but I do my best
Yea these software releases are just nothing. They fall into the same category as everything else made by AI: "This isn't real." For some reason it took me a while to get there.
Hey, that could have been me! I switched to using the Foobar2000 app which solves a problem I had with audio cutting out at the beginning of songs in VLC. There you can easily also turn a directory tree into a playlist and shuffle it. My syncing script, for anyone else interested in this approach:
I just symlink the stuff I want on the phone into ~/storage/musik/iphone. The -L flag causes rsync to resolve the symlinks while syncing so that the referents are copied instead of the links.
That’s an interesting choice l I had not considered. For iPhone I have been using Jellyfin and Navidrome. Your option is a lot simpler, which is great.

But is it slop?
I have previously used Rhythmbox and Strawberry but they could not do everything.

Is this a case where we call any AI output slop, or rather is this a question about whether this is poorly QA'd AI output?
[OP] ocean-hai | 17 hours ago
I am in full agreement with @0x29A’s AI disclaimer. Anything AI produced is slop.

Thanks for noticing that. I will not use the software then. Not a fan of running slop on my machine.
I very much like your disclaimer!

Someone here turned me onto just installing VLC on my Iphone and syncing music with my linux desktop that way, and thats been working amazingly.
Its missing a few features I’m used to, shuffle all and tap/hold options show album/artist but at least it plays flac
