An exercise-mimicking pill actually passing Phase I trials is wild. It targets Lac-Phe (the hormone released during high-intensity workouts) to cut appetite, and Phase I showed no severe GI issues, which would be a massive win compared to GLP-1 side effects.
The most interesting claim is that animal models showed it preserved lean muscle and stopped weight rebound after dropping GLP-1s. Still 6–8 years out if it ever hits the market, but what do you guys think? Would you ever take a daily pill to mimic a workout, or does the missing "actual exercise" benefit defeat the point?
Most people don't excersise for just the muscle mass though, which appears to be the only major benefit here. Reasons to still workout are sweating to lose sugar, calorie burn (really all of the movement-is-medicine benefits), mental health and to affect genetics.
In defense of food, obesity takes a long time and the solution is just a calorie deficit. It's not the food's fault people ate too much of it for years

I’d never stop regular exercise but I’d be curious if there’s any benefit to taking the medication in addition to it

Exercise also builds muscle - which this pill does not. It preserves muscle, it doesnt stimulate muscle growth

Cocaine can make you feel like you just sprinted around the block. And you can probably actually run it in record time too.

Taking a pill seems to be safer than eating fruits and vegetables at this point.

In defense of fat individuals, they have been sold bad food with glossy ad campaigns for decades. The obesity is no surprise.

It's no surprise that in 2026 obesity levels are 50x that of 1906. People's will did not change. Food culture, supply chains and advertising did.
