Nobody is building underwater data centers.

They're already building them as cheaply as possible. Putting them underwater makes them cost several orders of magnitude more.

I donno I can think of a really cheap way to do it using a reusable "planter".

Patent it. Make millions.

In my experience living in a boat for the last 8 years, the ocean hates you and wants you dead and everything you own destroyed. And it is a constant battle to prevent it from succeeding.

It would be much easier to avoid the fines for pollution if they were under water….

How much are they paying today?

Tell that to my local harbormaster

How about floating data centers powered by floating solar and cooled by ocean water. Float them out near point Nemo in the south Pacific where StarLink satellites are idle anyway...

Well, humans are killing off the the reefs, why spare the whales - a few billionaires are way more important.

This is disgusting. Who is doing this? Looks like we have to gear up for a Dakota Access Pipeline extended protest.

How evil do you have to be to want to endanger WHALES? And I hope the orcas get worked up and decide to smash into these data centers like they're smashing into yachts for fun.

The battle over where to put data centers is heading below the waves: the Trump administration is considering proposals to build two massive underwater data centers off the country’s coast. The sites selected for the projects—one in Cook Inlet, Alaska, and one in the Gulf of Maine—are smack in the middle of two endangered whale populations’ habitats.

How about space, isn’t that where Elon wanted them? Love him or hate him he is smart, if he doesn’t want them on earth that’s not a good sign

>he is smart

Sure about that?

Please look up how things actually “cool down.” Building them in space is a terrible idea.
