I am using Python more and more this last 3-4 years and lately I added a very simple Formatter to my logging and was not happy with the (not overly extensive) boilerplate needed to actually use it, but then I found that in 3.15 logging.basicConfig takes a formatter parameter now.
I like constant improvements to the language. I was an occasional (a bit unhappy) Python user, but only since 3.11 I can say I like it. Typing and structural pattern match (I tend to use it much more than ifs now) are awesome.
I also like how it has been getting more performant with every release. It's never going to be the fastest language, but there's a lot of Python out there and making it a bit faster helps.
For me, UV has made me return to it for swiss army knife jobs or trying to maintain grad-student research code, where trying to make stuff work portably used to exhaust my emotional capital.
Applications that use the tkinter module may hang when using menu command that opens a dialog. This problem is due to an operating system behavior change in macOS 27.0 ... issue #158053 (abridged)
So macOS 27 broke tkinter apps, ouch! There's gotta be a ton of bewildered niche to app users out there. I myself was just prepping a bunch of pytheory scripts for hooking up to Tkinter guis but best wait. Apparently this also affects the built-in IDE IDLE, so that’s kind of a big deal.
The response and swift progress in that issue thread is impressive, from the analysis offered by the original reporter, to the python maintainer, to the Tk maintainer. It looks like they've applied a fix to Tk 8.6, 9.0 and 9.1 which should easily be picked up by a point release to 3.13, 3.14 and 3.15 installers. That was some really nice work.
From the Tk maintainer:
I don't think this will be addressed by a future Apple release. I think that the way that Tk uses the AppKit event loop will be considered to be unorthodox (even though the copyright indicates it was originally written by Apple and by a Tk developer who became an Apple employee). Also I suspect that this breakage was a side effect of a fairly significant redesign of the menubar code. The macOS 27 release includes quite a few changes to the menubar. If Apple responds at all to the radar submission, I would expect the response to be "won't fix" or "not a bug". Plus, I don't think "make the menu bar tolerate a nested run loop" translates into anything that will be meaningful to Apple. RunLoop modes live on a stack. I think that "nested RunLoops", as I understand the term, are common and supported.
