is the article implying that gun deaths would be preferable? surely being able to kill people from a distance is worse? framing it as "uncontrolled savagery" is pretty strange too. the case they outline is just domestic stemming from divorce proceedings. it's really weird to frame this as a problem with knives and not a problem with doing violence to women.

The article is from the National Post which is a right wing paper founded by Conrad Black. I’m not surprised the article reads like it’s trying to give advice to domestic abusers because it probably is.
Well, we do in the sense that knives are the weapons of choice for criminals who do not have access to firearms. We could always lower the knife crime stats by giving them all guns!

The use of knives in domestic abuse is very much a problem in the UK, but actually it’s domestic abuse that is the problem rather than knives per se.
