I never really thought the upcoming UFC fight at the White House had that much meaning behind it until I read Kevin D. Williamson’s latest piece in The Dispatch. The way he explained it honestly made me do a double take.

Kevin basically uses the UFC event as a way to talk about the deeper cultural direction of the country right now. He argues that politics has increasingly turned into spectacle, chaos, entertainment, and public dysfunction, and that Trump represents a lot of that shift culturally. The whole article is really less about UFC itself and more about what it symbolizes to him.

Obviously Kevin writes in a very dramatic and provocative way, but I actually think that’s part of why the piece works. He ties the moment back to his own upbringing around alcoholism, instability, violence, and what he calls “white trash” culture, and argues that America has increasingly normalized that same energy politically and publicly.

Whether people agree with him or not, I honestly thought it was a pretty fascinating way to look at the whole thing. It made the event feel less random and more symbolic of where politics and culture are at in 2026.

What do you all think about the upcoming fight? Do you think there’s actually a deeper meaning behind it and what it reflects about the administration, or is it not that deep?

I can see reading into the deeper meaning in a macro sense, but I do just see it as another trashy move by Trump. Another chance to cash in on the presidency for his rich buddies who continue to bring him support with young men. The symbolism of having this corny shit next door to the rubble of the East Wing is quite striking. It is a very bad time to be an American with any amount of brains or conscience.

Especially Dana White who has admitted he was responsible for convincing Rogan to vote for Trump and then to endorse him.

This doesn't handwaved Rogan's decisions away, but shows why it is so important to "reward" his foot soldiers. Without Dana in Rogan's ear that endorsement 100% does not happen even if he was voting for him.

White has also said in interviews Trump doesn't want the event to happen anymore, but he needs people like Dana White.

Here is a fun fact : Dana White gambles +$1 million dollar hands at Casinos regularly while the average UFC fighter, who fights at least THREE TIMES A YEAR, makes around $145,000 a year.

all politicians, even the non-white ones (maybe even especially the non-white ones, like what the hell are you doing you're better than this) are white trash. when money > smarts, you are white trash. that is kind of the whole thing.

Yeah, I dunno if we need a new word for it, but Trump has proven continuously you can be a billionaire and still be absolutely white trash.

I've lived in trailer parks around the type of dudes who would get drunk & fist fight out on the green, and I'd unironically rather have one of them as president, because they were more classy than Trump is.

Gold trash? Junk jewelry?

What? White trash often refers to dumb poor white people too. I’m not sure why you think rich dumb white people is kind of the whole thing

guess you're dumb then. sorry

You just gonna double down? I’m curious if you’re the type who would bother to type it into Google and check, and are now ignoring what you saw or if you’re the type to just maintain your belief without even trying to verify it.

It’s okay to be wrong sometimes. I am quite often, it’s good to learn and be better than your past self.
