What’s even wilder is that the victim has a picture of a camera in the living where the assault took place — a camera that might have footage of what happened.
And SFPD didn’t reach out to the camera company or subpoena the footage? Are you kidding me?
I had my house robbed in SF in 2014. I was home sleeping at 4am and woke up to four huge dudes in my bedroom, taking whatever they wanted. Police came and gave me a hard time because “you should know better than to live here!” They took fingerprints of the window that was broken into. And then a few months later, some Good Samaritan mailed me my stolen checkbook back (with a note that they’d found it on the ground in Fisherman’s Wharf), and on a lot of the blank checks, someone had been practicing signing my name. And on the back of the checkbook, they wrote their own name. I took it to SFPD, who declined to even check if the fingerprints matched the name because I had just moved into the house and couldn’t prove that someone prior to me hadn’t invited that person in to leave those fingerprints on the inside & outside of the windowsills and windows. It was beyond infuriating and this was 12 years ago
SFPD pretty famously doesn't do anything around here. I literally witnessed a street fight where a man with a machete-like knife stabbed a dog and was chasing people through the street directly in front of the police station and they didn't even peek out the window. So this is pretty believable, unfortunately.
Things Seattle and SF have in common: gold rush towns, weather, coastal location, tech hubs, predominantly affluent white populations, cops do not care whether you live or die.
I’ll throw Austin police into the mix. So many stories of police doing absolutely nothing when there is a ton of evidence to find the person.
APD quiet quit years ago so no one gets pulled over for traffic infractions and it shows. I can sit at any red light and guarantee at least one person will run it each cycle, it’s often multiple cars. I care less about this but I was in a parking lot yesterday and every car I walked by (10) had expired registration. Driving in Austin is like mad max, I hate it so much.
