Even if they are legally in the right, it still shows commendable guts by Nitter to take on a man who is not only the world's richest, but also someone who is deeply vindictive and willing to push the boundaries of the law. Bravo Nitter!

I wish people would do this to Nintendo next. Nintendo abuse C&Ds and lawfare in completely defensible fair use legal situations and walk all over the little guys.

It's baffling with Nintendo. Taking down YouTube reviews aka free advertising

I would posit most Nintendo legal threats would not hold up in court if anyone threatened were in a financial position to defend themselves.

Most legal threats altogether

Nintendo has absolutely destroyed people legally. Nitter seems to be counting on massive donations (employable in opposition to Nintendo) or an unlikely case (weak law involved? Not likely for Nintendo)

Nitter have received legal threats from X Corporation, not from Nintendo

This is unrelated to the main story here, but I've noticed this in the diff:

$Nitter: 4fSxCKc91ELQYVdv3tmHW8R15KoALPwEngyoQe1Xpump

...What the fuck is $Nitter? I have nothing against projects accepting cryptocurrency donations, but why do they seem to have their own token? I'm confused.

heh

That's not a coincidence, it's associated with the "pump (dot) fun" platform, which is essentially a platform for gamified memecoin gambling.

creating your own token is very easy to do(as i understand) so I dont really see any problem with it, if it helps with donations. Also it can be just a meme, I dont think OS project of Nitter size is capable of scamming people.

sloane | 4 hours ago

are you positing that they are too small or too large for scamming? to be frank, i think scam operations can run the gamut of team sizes. not to say nitter is or isn’t, just that i don’t find that a particularly compelling piece of evidence

I'm not a fan of proxying nazi-content, but if it pisses off the nazis I guess it's fine.
