I am the very model of a Big Bang evolutionist,
I specialize in every field that sounds sorta scientificous /
I carbon-date the fossils and I measure sedimentary,
Then cover up the evidence that proves the Ark was maritime.
Reminds me of that time there was a book published titled "100 Authors against Einstein", and when asked about it Einstein responded "If I were wrong, then 1 would have been enough!"
Reminds me of Project Steve, which was started to poke fun at the "Answers in Genesis" list of scientists who accept the biblical account of Genesis.
To counter it, they started a list of scientists named Steve who agree with this statement:
>Evolution is a vital, well-supported, unifying principle of the biological sciences, and the scientific evidence is overwhelmingly in favor of the idea that all living things share a common ancestry. Although there are legitimate debates about the patterns and processes of evolution, there is no serious scientific doubt that evolution occurred or that natural selection is a major mechanism in its occurrence. It is scientifically inappropriate and pedagogically irresponsible for creationist pseudoscience, including but not limited to "intelligent design", to be introduced into the science curricula of our nation's public schools.
The list of Steves is far longer than any of the Answers in Genesis lists.
When american christians did that for evolution. someone published a counter pamphlet signed by 100 (or however many) of biology phds named Barry, to point out how ridiculously lopsided the split was, as in even if you can find 100 biologists who deny evolution they're still a drop in the bucket.
Probably looking for wood samples to examine, assumed to be part of the ark. Sort of like the Oak Island guys trying to find old tunnel shafts or buried galleon ship parts.
For real. I guess just keep making seasons of the tv show. Either you find gold and get rich or you end up with 13 seasons worth of royalties lmao. Game is game. Great show though
Edit: I guess the real Oak Island treasure was the show we made along the wayđŹ
I was from the Maritimes and 1000% I am convinced the Oak Island guys just leaned hard into it and the locals were willing to go along because well tv money is good money.
And when they dont find it???? Like sure most hardcore believers will just activate cognitive dissonance but itll make it harder for them to evangelize
This! If you prove one thing in the bible happened, it doesnât mean the other things all happened⌠many people of faith are not people of logic and reason, sadly.
Noah probably did build a boat, a big boat and gathered animals he could. That part is plausible. But two of each animal to repopulate is a long stretch, embellishment.. naw. Bet the lions were fun when they got hungry. Probably not happy bears either. Suspect they will find remnants of a bloodbath on that boat.
He probably got sheep and ducks at the most. Its embarrasing to even think Lemurs, Penguins and Platipus would decide to travel across the world to the middle east to get on a, wait a minute.. Boat? I dont think the lazy Panda, lousy Koala and slow Slot would even conceive ever leaving their eucaliptus amd fruit trees.
The bible says nothing about Pangea, so any belief that pangea existed and Noah existed and built an ark during Pangea times is a crazier than the boat story
Yeah.... But after cain killed the other kid he went to live with other people... But like they never say who the fuck these other people are - just that they are in the land of Nod. He also expressed fear that others who find him will kill him, implying yet more people. So it seemed like a weirdly busy time for humans when Adam and Eve became "the first people"
Itâs made up. Stop trying to jump through hoops, in an attempt to rationalize an ancient story that was told for entertainment and control.
Noah is no more real than Harry Potter or Superman. Imagine if people a hundred times years from now were arguing if Harry was actually a very powerful wizard or if he was just very lucky in beating one evil wizard.
If there ever was a guy who built a boat due to floods and brought a bunch of animals, they were definitely only his farm animals, to repopulate his farm.
Or it was just a dad trying to shut his kid up who kept asking where all the animals came from, and the kid grows up never learning it was just a story
Yeah right. I bet next youâre going to try and tell me Noah didnât live to 900yrs old. Logic my ass. I know lots of people that live that long. My uncle Craig is turning 865 this November.
And, if you were to prove Noah's ark was an actual historical event, that still wouldn't disprove evolution. There is a shit ton of evidence for evolution. But one old large boat somehow disproves all that scientific evidence?... This is what being a member of a cult is like.
Most people arent logical. Its taken me most my life to really learn that 3 therapists have told me my biggest problem with people is im expecting most people to act logically.
These people make their book club the center of their entire existence, yet have never once actually read through the book. Logic and reason went out the door generations ago.
What you've said is why the argument "if God is real, why doesn't He show Himself to us" is so flawed. Because no matter how much human beings see, it will never be enough. There will always be be doubt. The very fact that you can think about logic and reason should be enough to tell you that there is something more to human beings than chemicals and evolution.
I have never ever seen a chemical reaction produce life from nothing. Neither have I seen something appear out of nothing and even if you lay claim to evolution, where did the first pieces of matter come from?
Lastly what is your logic and reasoning based on? At the core of it all, all evolutionists have and all science is based on assumptions. So you place your faith in the assumptions of men, how is that better than placing your faith in a more intelligent being that created the heavens and the earth and designed everything so intricatlely, even down to the ear structure you get your balance from?
All this to say, that no matter how much evidence humanity is given, they will never believe. There wass once a group of people who saw seas parted and the dead raised to life, their response? Crucifying the King of Glory.
To be fair, regardless of religious disposition, the bible is a highly reliable source of historical information. Quite a lot in there is proven to be true at a civilization level.
The Bible contains almost no primary sources. At best the new testament has a few books written by a guy who was told stories by another guy who was around when Jesus was alive, and the old testament is more Jewish mythology than anything else. There is no archeological evidence to support the events in the book of Exodus or the existence of Moses for example, and it's far more likely that the myth was adapted from a similar preexisting Egyptian myth.
The Bible is a collection of stories written over thousands of years by people reading it as they were writing it. It references and contradicts itself. It's not a good source of history.
Its historically accurate in the way that a novel set in France, written 1000 years ago, will be a good resource for scholars. Some culture and traditions would be captured in a novel, that might not be written in a historical record.
But I wouldn't assume that many dead people left their graves and visited Jerusalem or that King Herod killed all the Jewish babies. You gain clues about the setting, but have to filter out the stories.
Sure. There are examples of timelines in the history of man in the Bible, but nothing that will debunk the evolution of earth and the short time that man has been around. (Even tho the oldest evidence of mankind are 300,000 years old)
Surely if Noah's ark is a true story, it proves evolution. Otherwise they would need to claim every single species alive today was on the ark. Which mean the ark must be pretty big and have several million insect species on it.
I had to scroll this far to get to someone who understands. Naohs act is either A) 1 million square Km wide. Or B) Evolution exists. (or the real answer, C. Which is evolution and no ark)
And that Noah was an exceptional navigator, seeing how he would have had to go back by and drop off every single pair of animals in the environment they needed to live. After he had already gone all of the places to pick them up, of course. Bet the polar bears were fun.
It's worse than that. Even if they found Noah's actual ark it wouldn't prove the story of Noah as told by the Bible. It would prove that a ship was built by someone matching the description in the Bible and that's about it.
That's what confuses me about the creationists who are against evolution. Even if the biblical account is 100% accurate...The universe exists. We still have stars. We can see stars over a billion light-years away. We can still calculate the ages of those stars. If the universe were created 6,000 or so years ago, it was obviously created with the appearance of age.
...So why not extend that to evolution? God could've given every lifeform a history the same way he gave every star a history. He could've also given them the ability to adapt over time. There's nothing in evolution that has anything to do with the bible.
The problem is that accepting evolution is one step closer to accepting that God isn't necessarily necessary for any of it, and a lot of them are scared of that thought.
>the big bang evolutionists are already in damage control mode
I picture a bunch of nerds in glasses and lab coats with badges that say "Evolutionist", standing around TV monitors, sweating and biting their fingernails.
One could argue this dig proves the Akkadian legend "Epic of Atrahasis" or the "Ziusudra flood" which pre-dates the Noah myth. Or it could just show that humans had used arks back then.
Also is that image from Dune? I don't remember Noah standing on a metallic tank carrying plastic jugs.
Itâs kinda lame watching rich folks fund these journeys and adventures and expeditions while the rest of us have to sit back and watch children starve and good people go homeless, but I guess thatâs the point of this religion: suffering.
I mean, their God did kill every newborn in Egypt if you believe their Bible⌠seems like a lovely thing to blindly worship and waste money on
It should be the governments/world leaders who try to enact policies and change to make life better for the people. The US spends way too much on their military and can easily end homelessness if they redirected some of those funds.
People always love to point blame on the wealthy but it should be pointed at people who are actually in charge of society. You can give a ton of food to a community in Uganda, but it wonât matter if you donât support the infrastructure development in that area.
The wealthy ARE actually in charge in the US. Lobbying is literally legal bribery.
Our politicians have been in corporate CeOs pockets for decades and have put the American people on the back burner so they can focus on helping the already wealthy. Citizens United is a fantastic display of this. So yes, the wealthy are to blame 9/10 times.
Also, itâs not just on world leaders/politicians, itâs on the people too. And when we see people that have become extravagantly wealthy and turn around and waste it on Jesus Hunts and space trips while the very people that made them their wealth starve, yes we can be upset about that.
Minister turned agnostic here. Speaking as someone wearing that lens who also works in technology leadership for multiple decades.
More than one cultures have flood legends. So there may have been a major flood historically.
Note I say âmayâ.
But even if there was one, Thereâs no way to prove Noah and his family were able to collect pairings of every single species. And 40 days and 40 nights? Same of those species wouldâve eaten each other.
Even if not eaten, some bugs donât have the lifespan to last that long.
Iâm sure there are other things we can say, but just based on those, there is no way the biblical depiction of an ark that contains all species and floats for 40 days and 40 nights and that all the species survive and repopulate after the flood subsides, exist.
There may be an ark. Or a large boat. But I seriously doubt there are enough rooms in there to contain even most of the major mammals and large animals.
If the argument says that the species count was a lot fewer then, then how do we get to today? Outside of evolution? Even with many extinct, we still have way more than an ark can contain.
Also logistically, Noah and his family supposedly were mocked and ridiculed by everyone and only him and his family were faithful enough to focus and build it. How in the world would they have enough manpower and money and wood and resources to do so? Even if everyone works? How do they know all the dimensions, nuances, etc? How did they handle toilet needs for all the species? I assume even if they donât eat anything, they would still drink some water, thus peeing.
IIRC the creation of the Black Sea is considered to be the source for these flood stories. Land bridge broke, Mediterranean Sea filled the basin over hundreds of years. Sure, it's more of a slow thing and it's still there, but we all know how stories get embellished.
Na i think it was just cataclysms happening the world over generally around the same time. Think about this flood in Nepal caused by this glacial lake or whatever emptying. Now imagine there are glaciers receding everywhere because itâs the end of the ice age, and there are similar bodies of water that are breaking out all over. Iâm sure all these separate societies had a flood event happen to them. Thatâs where you get these mythical flood stories. Itâs just global warming but back then.
I find the theories really fascinating because almost all ancient civilizations have some form of a devastating flood myth. I believe another likely theory was a massive glacial lake in the middle of North America breaking and draining into the ocean.
I read it was the creation of the straight of Hormuz, when the sea breached and slowly inundated that area. The people living there had to move north and became the Sumerians. That said many cultures have flood myths as humans tend to settle alongside rivers
The Tigris river was highly prone to flooding in that time period and there are sediment layers that indicate some pretty gnarly flooding events, some that were bad enough to take out entire early cities. This is one of the more likely theories for the origin of this and other very similar flood stories that originated in the area.
A global flood simply did not happen otherwise there would be one uniform sediment layer around the entire world, which there isnât
Noah is the story that really broke my religious shelf. (my dad was a Presbyterian pastor) All of it is absolutely preposterous from a scientific and logical standpoint.
All of the things you brought up AND navigation. This guy and his family were able to take that boat around to every place, every continent, up mountains, wherever and pick up the animals and then when the waters receded, he totally knew where he was and they went back around to drop everybody off back where they needed to be? Come on.
Also, rain is fresh water. It would have mixed with the salt water and other freshwaters creating brackish water covering the whole earth. Most aquatic species can only survive in fresh or salt water so they would have all been toast. Except bull sharks, those jerks can do anything.
If a powerful being like God can bring all living creatures to the ark, he can surely make them all fit inside and stay alive for 40 days and 40 nights. You cant believe the first miracle, then say, "the rest is too outrageous"
Its just giving these grifters more eyes and more opportunities at donations. These liars don't need more money.
Just last night my mom told my dad "Did you hear they may have found the ark??" The same lie that these people have been saying for decades but now its gained steam again
It's basically old primate tribalism. Dumb, team sport thinking, us vs them, religion vs evolution. Ironically, that instinct is exactly what evolution predicts lmao
But their reasoning is that the more you can tie actually historical events to biblical stories, the more the Bible must be correct.
It wonât change either sideâs minds, but it will reinforce the faith of people that are already Biblical fundamentalists.
In a broader sense, disproving evolution has been their Holy Grail for many decades because evolution is so fundamental to science that disproving it could undermines societyâs faith in science. (Their belief, not our reality).
There's a lot of animals they didn't even know about when the story was written, and there's a good chance they didn't consider every kind of snake to be a different species for example. Even considering the story to be fictional, it still doesn't make sense to look at it through a modem scientific lens.
This "ark site" has already been disproved multiple times. Its a decades old thing. Its a geological shape at the top of a mountain. It doesn't even fit the size its supposed to be iirc. And they claim to have found petrified wood. Well... If the whole shape was the ark then shouldn't you be able to find petrified wood around the entire shape?
This all comes from Ron Wyatt. A known grifter. He claimed to find where Moses and the jews stayed for 40 years. They "searched" and "searched" for years, taking up a lot of funds. Then suddenly they claimed to have found pottery. But then whenever people came to verify this they couldn't remember where exactly it was found and nothing more was ever found.
He takes up a bunch of donations to "rattle the evolutionists!" and just whenever he seems to run out of time suddenly! A big break through! That they can never recreate when they're being observed
Ok yeah I thought they had already done a bunch of drilling and sample collection and found that there was no wood and no nails, just a lot of stone. Also, what are they hoping to find UNDER the ark that would prove that itâs an ark?
Read The Origin. You'll be surprised at his far-reaching insights into what for him was the future of biological research. I think you severely underestimate Darwin's imagination.
But people generally don't call use the term "darwinism" anymore in daily conversation in the context of evolutionary biology. They just say evolution, unless they're talking about the history of science (e.g., neo-darwinism, like you said).
No one calls themselves "big bang evolutionists" either.
You're misunderstanding me. I'm aware of what the term means, I'm saying it's not used much except in the historical context. The distinction between darwinism and neo-darwinism (i.e., the modern synthesis) came about between 1895 and 1948 â before most people on Earth today were born. People just say "evolution" in common speech.
In the same way, people who accept heliocentrism don't feel the need to call themselves copernicans all the time.
The term "Neo-Darwinism" is still used today to describe the gene-centered view of evolution. It was used copiously in this way through the 70s and 80s, and still is. I have a book from 2007 with the subtitle "a Neo-Darwinian view of musical structure and culture".
Not all evolution is Darwinian, so even though people use the "Evolution" in lieu of the nefarious D word, it does not convey the same meaning, except by some tacitly agreed-on implication.
I often abstain from using the D word for purely political reasons, not because there is anything inherently wrong with it. The creationists succeeded in making it unpopular, and since there is very little in this life that isn't a popularity contest, I avoid it even though it is an adequate descriptor.
She claimed: "When we are done, university curricula will need to be rewritten, and Darwinism will be dismantled. This is the place where creation began anew."
I'm wondering, when they find nothing, will they admit the bible was wrong?
Theyâll do what all good little Christian fundie grifters do and extract every cent they can from this spectacle, and when it turns out to a big fucking rock, theyâll start on the next one. âBut wait until we investigate this salt block that will upset every thing science tells us about evolution! $50 to get in on the early newsletter.â
The bible can be rewritten as quickly as a textbook. Hopefully the next version focuses less on making people believe that if they follow xyz they are better than everyone else on earth.
Jimmy Corsetti, a self-styled "Investigator of Lost Ancient History", presents his evidence for this site being the resting place of Noah's Ark. He includes some decent pictures of the Drupinar Formation.
The Wikipedia entry Drupinar site lists several previous expeditions to the site, all of which proved that it was a natural formation.
I'm very skeptical of the Noah legend, so I don't think they will find any compelling evidence.
Not the entire Old Testament, but for instance the concept of Satan as the counterpart to God and the world being like their chessboard where they fight for the souls of mankind, yeah.. that's Zoroastrianism. The Babylonian exile left a lasting impression lol
Other parts are lifted wholesale from the Egyptians.
lol yall literally have zero knowledge about ancient history and genuinely believe when people tell you these things. Nothing was plagiarized, instead all of these beings are the sons who disobeyed God whether you want to believe it or not. But time tends to tell, it still baffles me how the lenses of some of you completely dark and cant see anything at all. You dont even know what was plagiarized just a man claiming wisdom but is actually a fool telling you this and that got plagiarized. Sodom and gammorah got plagiarized too huh? Remnants of every single thing in scripture is being found not in these ancient Sumerian texts or any other ancient texts⌠the only remnant found that is in all ancient texts was the flood. But none touch of why the flood came. Dont ranting tho, the days today and ahead will be like the days of Noah but nobody knows the story of Noah so they canât tell at all whats happening today.
Noahâs Ark and the Epic of Gilgamesh have some very striking similarities, down to the detail of sending out a bird once the waters had receded. The epic was written roughly 500 years before Noahâs ark
So the article has a few spelling errors and interesting sentence choices. For example, it introduces Lauren Witzke, as a divisive Christian activist, and includes international archaeologists and geologists. But then in the next sentence that she is a former Senate candidate, and a self-proclaimed 'flat-earther', who once called the Covid vaccine a "Satanic plot".
So idk, does anyone else think this article is weird?
They had better hope they find the dna evidence for âkindsâ so they can get a whole bunch more creation museums up and running. If they find nothing we will hear nothing tho so, most likely that is the outcome.
There is absolutely nothing that would prove Noahâs ark exists. Nothing. Because it didnât. Even if thereâs a boat there, it doesnât prove some dude who lived to be 1000 saved every species on earth by putting them on a boat. Thatâs just not gonna happen. So.. let them find whatever it is they want to find, but it ainât gonna be evidence of that story being anything but pure bullshit.
Theyd also have to prove that like all land species were saved and that they can trace all the lineage of those species back to every living species on the planet. Otherwise they are just finding a big boat in the ground which is like super common in places around the world that have had cities near the water for hundreds of years. So again just proving that a boat is there.
This is the dumbest shit Iâve ever heard of. These Noahâs ark people have always driven me batshit. To the point where 20 years ago I made a fake documentary about an evangelist-type who is CERTAIN he knows where Noahâs ark is. Except itâs in the mountains of Wyoming. (The world was flooded and we created some pseudoscientific religious excuse for this). We get a guide and go very high up in the middle of absolute nowhere. Instead of Noahâs ark we find a dc4 that had slammed into the side of a mountain. Itâs a ridiculously beautiful spot and super creepy. You can find old leather shoes rolled up into a ball and other evidence of personal devastation. In the crash we find an aluminum case thatâs mangled and wonât be opened. Blair Witch came out right almost exactly then and I was so pissed because they stole my âis this real or bullshit?â Concept. Which, at one time was BRAND NEW and very effective. It did some film festivals and was hugely fun. Point being; people looking for Noahâs ark are aggressively moronic.
They want to prove that god is a POS mass murdering bastard who exterminated infants, butterflies, and lambs because he raged that they were and remained imperfect after HE made them imperfect? Genesis 5 might be worse than Samuel 15 in which he wants to see the heads of new born amelecites babies roll and pregnant women get their throat sliced. God was so mad that Saul didn't kill them all that he returned his fury at his own believers, killed his own men, and let the women and children be raped and/or sold off to slavery. Even when he calmed down and sent David to bring back the old kingdom together, God got angry again and casted a massive famine on his own believers a second time. In the meantime, in 2 Samuel 12, he very slowly and painfully killed David's child because he was illegitimate. He let the kid agonized for weeks and made sure David was feeling it all.
100 percent!!!! Jesus was like all these influencers of nowadays. A PR stunt to make the God of the Jews look palatable after that whole Old testament horror show!
I mean in the bible there are guides of how to make a woman have abortion. Oh but yeeeeaaaah! When some Jew guy with a mindset of a modern day influencer showed up, God was like âoh yeah by the way I got some random bitch pregnant so I can forgive all of you and not be a sadistic prick anymore .â
This is the 20th time I heard about people finding Noah's ark, and it's always just about to be digged out. The thing was smaller than the Titanic and it's on top of a mountain, how hard can it be to dig???? Or bring back any actual evidence it is, in fact, Noah's ark?
Scientists would be thrilled if they found some kind of disrupting information that gave evidence of shocking new concepts. Scientists love evidence backed ideas
This particular wingnut is also a flat-earthier, Covid conspiracy theorist and believes in Satan. How was she able to get funding for this Noahâs ark dig? Only in America.
Well, where the Ham Ark is located, they will drill into ancient seabed from 450 million years ago. I predict they will find micro fossils, and maybe even a trilobyte.
They won't find anything human in the trilobyte layer.
A boat would prove nothing. We know they were boats whenever the fairly was set but just because you find a boat doesn't mean it was the fairy tale one. It may be shaped like a wooden shoe.
More things Iâve seen on my grandmas computer as a kid while tryna find games on her computer. She was very religious and the internet knew it. Thatâs the articles I was exposed to AS A KID because they wanted to push stuff like that on Christian news sources which was her home page.
Who is to say that some religious fanatics didnât place an Ark - with the biblical descriptions and instructions - on there? Thatâs very possible!
Thatâs how that man from Mexico? Or some southern American country displayed some papermached caricature of some Alien? He lied to the world just to be able to prove a thesis right.
So, this just shows that there are crazy people in the world who would do these things!
I mean all these Christian churches tend to be well funded with all the tithes, offerings, donations etc etc plus they donât even get taxed like the rest of us. They can def afford to pull off a stunt like this
I love this kind of argument, it's so obviously illogical. Even if evolution by means of natural selection was proven 100% wrong tomorrow, it would do absolutely nothing to support their claims about their religion.
And reasonable Christians around the world are taking a multiple head plants because of how these literalist evangelicals have upended reason and have destroyed the legitimacy of Christianity.
This kinda seems like the sort of thing that an unseen hand would to do to "find proof" of something that would would reaffirm the conviction of a group that said hand controls, before the puppet group is told to violently purge a fundamentally opposition group (likely based in a more accurate sense of the reality around them). That group to be purged having been systestematically demonized for years by that same unseen hand in preparation of such a purge, this seems like just a liiiiiiitle more gasoline on a powder keg. OH! Also the puppet group has also been well armed for decades, through years of legislation, put into place by that same fucking unseen hand, that has put INNUMERABLELY more weapons in their hands. As someone who doesn't support genocide, pedophiles, genocidal pedophiles, concentration camps, erosion of civil liberties, massive inflation, etc... I do not love hearing this news.
Even if Noah's ark does exist in some form, does literally anyone believe any human made structure could "rescue" the entirety of our planet's animal species?
I feel like if we did ever find the ark's resting place it'd solidify the fact that the Bible isn't as literal as a lot of people assume.
I never understood why Christians are so quick to disprove and/or prove the existence of the Bible. Their whole argument is FAITH and how youâre suppose to BELIEVE that he is there?
Once the ark reached land and when the two of everything walked off the ark wouldn't food be scarce? Wouldn't some animals prey on other animals? If the animals survived the food shortage and got down to mating, wouldn't the offspring start inbreeding? Are all animals today riddled with recessive traits?
I mean there is some fairly decent evidence that a extremely large flood happened in the Mediterranean around the time that the story of Noah would have happened. It just wasn't from a vengeful God, it was from a massive land slide or glacier falling into the sea.
If religion was so good then we would all be going to a church, synagogue, mosque or temple to get well when we are sick with cancer, cold, flu, or any other ailment instead of seeing a doctor. Religion is just stupid.
Is this the vaguely boat-shaped natural rock formation? Which is proof of a box made of gopherwood was there 4,000 years ago? Yeah, drill, baby, drill, I don't think core samples of rock are going to "dismantle", um, "Darwinism".
That's not how ANYTHING works. And doesn't really belong on a sub ostensibly about science.
Itâs ironic that the people who so demonstratively antagonize the scientific method that brought us the theory of biological evolution are the same ones who practice social Darwinism on a grand scale, especially in Palestine.
I have been seeing variations on this story for the last 40 years. Itâs the ultimate âreal soon nowâ red meat for the believers. Hilarious that nobody who belongs to this cult ever thinks, âhey, this is the same story I first read about in 1978, just rewritten and repackaged for a new generation.â
If they can prove that Noah's ark was real, will they also admit that God set the world record for most abortions performed when he killed every pregnant woman's fetus that wasn't a part of Noah's family?
Hmmm. Interesting site and the findings will be interesting also. I know there are reports that there is a âflood layerâ, or what appears to be a layer in the record, suggesting areas were collectively under water over a certain period. But I donât known what is going to be found doing this dig.
Whatever they find they'll claim is the ark. Despite the fact that it would have been made out of wood which would have dissolved a thousand times by now, lol.
Given I was raised Mormon, not average U.S. Christian, but I used to fully believe evolution was true and so was Noahâs Ark. The existence of the flood would have done little to disprove Darwinism to me.
All religion is a delusion. The universe is far too enormous for this planet to be important. At best, any God of this planet is just an alien on holiday just fucking with the locals.
Darwin believed in God. Belief in God is not contrary to science. Belief in God also doesnât mean you have to believe Earth was created 6000 years ago, around the time of the Babylonian version of Noahâs ark.
Great. Get pieces of petrified wood and call it the ark. Put it next to the shroud of Turin and a few well-preserved âincorruptible saintsâ in the National Museum of Silliness.
There could be a large boat there. It could have been built by ancients expecting a flood. There could have been climate/weather conditions that inspired them to do this. They could have attempted to fill it farm and domesticated animals. All this is possible, while remembering; stories from the Bible, Torah, and Quran are based upon heavily mythologized events which were passed down via spoken stories generation to generation over thousands of years. A simple story about a boat could have easily rendered into the great fable about Noahâs Ark over thousands of years of oral tradition. So if they find something; cool. But it doesnât prove the fable true.
Edit: nor would this discovery reduce the importance of the lessons that the fable of Noah teaches us.

Quite a lot in there is proven to be true at a civilization level.
cold08 | 20 hours ago
The Bible contains almost no primary sources. At best the new testament has a few books written by a guy who was told stories by another guy who was around when Jesus was alive, and the old testament is more Jewish mythology than anything else. There is no archeological evidence to support the events in the book of Exodus or the existence of Moses for example, and it's far more likely that the myth was adapted from a similar preexisting Egyptian myth.
The Bible is a collection of stories written over thousands of years by people reading it as they were writing it. It references and contradicts itself. It's not a good source of history.
keyboardstatic | 20 hours ago
This is just inaccurate.
CountDown60 | 20 hours ago
Its historically accurate in the way that a novel set in France, written 1000 years ago, will be a good resource for scholars. Some culture and traditions would be captured in a novel, that might not be written in a historical record.
But I wouldn't assume that many dead people left their graves and visited Jerusalem or that King Herod killed all the Jewish babies. You gain clues about the setting, but have to filter out the stories.

SirJefferE | 11 hours ago

Itâs kinda lame watching rich folks fund these journeys and adventures and expeditions while the rest of us have to sit back and watch children starve and good people go homeless, but I guess thatâs the point of this religion: suffering.
I mean, their God did kill every newborn in Egypt if you believe their Bible⌠seems like a lovely thing to blindly worship and waste money on
Curiosity_456 | 8 hours ago
It should be the governments/world leaders who try to enact policies and change to make life better for the people. The US spends way too much on their military and can easily end homelessness if they redirected some of those funds.
People always love to point blame on the wealthy but it should be pointed at people who are actually in charge of society. You can give a ton of food to a community in Uganda, but it wonât matter if you donât support the infrastructure development in that area.
JFISHER7789 | 5 hours ago

Too much flaws in the religious argument.
bstabens | 18 hours ago
IIRC the creation of the Black Sea is considered to be the source for these flood stories. Land bridge broke, Mediterranean Sea filled the basin over hundreds of years. Sure, it's more of a slow thing and it's still there, but we all know how stories get embellished.
Dismal_Mirror_9041 | 16 hours ago
Well its kinda just a logic thing... All our oldest stories come from our oldest civilizations. All of which were based near large navigable rivers.
All of which, besides the Nile, flooded and did damage to these early civilizations pretty damn frequently.
Its probably just several different stories of floods destroying the few and tiny societies that experienced them.
A world ending flood sounds impressive till your whole world is realized to just be like, a few cities.
All these stories coalesce and change into one, and the rest is history

Na i think it was just cataclysms happening the world over generally around the same time. Think about this flood in Nepal caused by this glacial lake or whatever emptying. Now imagine there are glaciers receding everywhere because itâs the end of the ice age, and there are similar bodies of water that are breaking out all over. Iâm sure all these separate societies had a flood event happen to them. Thatâs where you get these mythical flood stories. Itâs just global warming but back then.
guceubcuesu | 15 hours ago
I find the theories really fascinating because almost all ancient civilizations have some form of a devastating flood myth. I believe another likely theory was a massive glacial lake in the middle of North America breaking and draining into the ocean.
zxzxzxzxxcxxxxxxxcxx | 14 hours ago
I read it was the creation of the straight of Hormuz, when the sea breached and slowly inundated that area. The people living there had to move north and became the Sumerians. That said many cultures have flood myths as humans tend to settle alongside rivers
pattywagon95 | 9 hours ago

But their reasoning is that the more you can tie actually historical events to biblical stories, the more the Bible must be correct.

In a broader sense, disproving evolution has been their Holy Grail for many decades because evolution is so fundamental to science that disproving it could undermines societyâs faith in science. (Their belief, not our reality).

It is a perfectly valid term:
Neo-Darwinism is common currency in the biological lexicon. Universal Darwinism is a slightly more esoteric, albeit still useful, term.
The notion that only creationists use the word "Darwinism" is a myth.
I'll have your downvotes, please.
Ameren | 19 hours ago
But people generally don't call use the term "darwinism" anymore in daily conversation in the context of evolutionary biology. They just say evolution, unless they're talking about the history of science (e.g., neo-darwinism, like you said).
No one calls themselves "big bang evolutionists" either.
LordDiplocaulus | 19 hours ago
Neo-Darwinism has many adherents to this day. It is a contemporary perspective, not a mere historical artifact.
Ameren | 19 hours ago
You're misunderstanding me. I'm aware of what the term means, I'm saying it's not used much except in the historical context. The distinction between darwinism and neo-darwinism (i.e., the modern synthesis) came about between 1895 and 1948 â before most people on Earth today were born. People just say "evolution" in common speech.
In the same way, people who accept heliocentrism don't feel the need to call themselves copernicans all the time.
LordDiplocaulus | 19 hours ago

Noah's Ark and pretty much the entire Old Testament is plagiarised from the Sumerians and their gods the Annunaki.
TwoFlower68 | 6 hours ago
Not the entire Old Testament, but for instance the concept of Satan as the counterpart to God and the world being like their chessboard where they fight for the souls of mankind, yeah.. that's Zoroastrianism. The Babylonian exile left a lasting impression lol
Other parts are lifted wholesale from the Egyptians.
nebula3ye | 2 hours ago
lol yall literally have zero knowledge about ancient history and genuinely believe when people tell you these things.

All religion is a delusion. The universe is far too enormous for this planet to be important. At best, any God of this planet is just an alien on holiday just fucking with the locals.

Friendly reminder this is being paid for with our tax dollars

A former Senate candidate, Witzke is a self-proclaimed 'flat-earther', who once called the Covid vaccine a "Satanic plot".
Iâm not overly concerned.

Sheâs also a former drug smuggler, so thereâs that

How much is this costing? I pretty sure their messiah would encourage a different use for that money.

They are so close to doing science. Maybe a 14 year old with a C average could help them figure it out.
LurkBot9000 | 9 hours ago
Theyre going to fight science with archeology. Bold maneuver

Why would Noah leave the Ark on top of a mountain anyways.

A fitting end for the former Drug Mule and Cartel play thing Witzke would be a Turkish Prison when she screws this all up.

This is so stupid Iâm embarrassed for humans. And people who believe this are allowed to vote?

Darwin believed in God. Belief in God is not contrary to science. Belief in God also doesnât mean you have to believe Earth was created 6000 years ago, around the time of the Babylonian version of Noahâs ark.

Great. Get pieces of petrified wood and call it the ark. Put it next to the shroud of Turin and a few well-preserved âincorruptible saintsâ in the National Museum of Silliness.

Trying to materially, concretely prove that the god you worship is historyâs greatest mass murderer is quite the quest.
Whatâs the end game here? âNoahâs Ark is real! Believe in God or he will SLAUGHTER ALL LIFE ON EARTH ONCE AGAIN.â
This is a god weâre supposed to want to worship?

Anyone else notice all the typos in the article? Go AI!
Some-Leopard5025 | 14 hours ago
AI generated texts don't have typos. AI generates by word not letter. It has odd grammar but not spelling mistakes.

Evolution is only minimal adaptations to environments. Full Darwinism is BS.
TwoFlower68 | 14 hours ago
You don't seem to realise the concept of deep time. Those small adaptations start to add up when you have billions of years to play with
