This article discusses a lesser known element of Pinochet's regime, where impoverished women were coerced into giving up their children in an effort to reduce "child poverty." It's a look at why and how this was done, and the impacts it's had on Chile and the children since.
So I once talked to a lady from Panama who had a very similar story, but it was way back in 2007 or 2008, cant seem to find a lot of info on it. Had to do with the US involvement in Panama during the 90s iirc, and tons of kids went missing, and they had been searching for decades. Found some adopted away to other countries, most were still missing. Not sure if its related in any way but its similar and made me think of it.
American baby by Gabrielle Glaser explores similar issues but with domestic adoptions within the US. The intersection of human trafficking and adoption is tragic. I hope we continue uncovering the truth of what has happened and likely is still happening.

A similar thing was happening in Georgia! There’s the story about identical twin sisters who found each other.

Similar case in Greece during the 1950s and 1960s.
