Geopolitical risk premiums return to the oil market almost instantly. Even if physical supply isn't permanently knocked out, the fear of cascading infrastructure attacks is more than enough to keep barrel prices elevated for weeks
Also, after the fear goes away, they've learned they can keep prices high for a bit and soak up some giant profits before market forces start exerting too much downward pressure.
Not to mention massive profits made by American oil companies who's costs have not changed. They paid Republicans to attack Iran and drive up the world price of oil and it is all profit.
Working Americans get double fucked by the skyrocketing price of gas and energy, and the inflation caused by the dollar being devalued by trillions in unrestrained Pentagon spending.
And now they are going to take our Social Security using the debt as an excuse. But you'll still keep paying into it.
How about not blaming voters when in 2020 we did our part, kicked him out of office, and then Democrats did fuck all for 4 years to apply the law to Trump and his coup conspirators.
Biden proved to be just as faithful a servant of the Epstein Class as Trump.
If you honestly believe that we would be blowing up NATO, and at economic (or real) war with Iran, Canada, and Europe, under Kamala Harris, then you are the problem. Like most progressives I know.
I voted for Biden and Harris, because consider the alternative.
But seriously, fuck Biden. He literally did everything possible to shield Trump from arrest and prosecution, and then personally rat-fucked the 2024 campaign. Trump should be sucking Biden's dick for rolling out the red carpet for him to return to power.
If the best thing you can say about Biden is he wasn't as bad as Trump, then he fucking sucked, because that bar is so low it is in Hell.
Fuck Trump but seriously fuck Joe Biden. Oh and did you see his influence-peddling son Hunter is launching a crypto currency just like every other crook? You know, the guy Joe Biden said he wouldn't pardon but then proved to be a liar and did anyway. These fuckers are all the same.
I will say, it was my pleasure to vote for James Talarico in the primary. We need more like him and to kick corrupt, establishment-DNC sellouts like Schumer and Jeffries out on their asses.
I mean, truly, truly! We literally had four years where we weren't treating our allies as enemies and our enemies as allies, we weren't starting a war with Iran (at the behest of Israel) which has run up prices across the board, we weren't screwing up markets with counterproductive tariffs, we were bolstering unions instead of undercutting them, and we were trying to get student loan debt off the backs of everyday people (though the Republicans kept obstructing it). And all these dingleberries can say is, "there's no difference between Biden and Trump"? Fuuuuck that. The complainers should try paying attention for once in their goddamn life instead of taking refuge under the idea that "they're all the same, so it doesn't matter if I don't make any efforts." It's pure intellectual laziness.
That's not what he's saying. He's saying Biden did fuck-all about the threat of MAGA. Trump still stayed out of jail and got to run for president again. I'm sure the president could get enough dirt on Trump to crush him.
> And all these dingleberries can say is, "there's no difference between Biden and Trump"?
Yeah. Didn't say that. You did. You just ignore Biden's atrocious complicity with GOP corruption by pointing at Trump. That's being a sucker.
I don't drink the Lib Kool Aid and ignore the failures and malfeasance coming from the DNC. That doesn't require being a MAGA. It just requires the capacity for independent thought.
I can condemn the cowardly inaction of the Uvalde police without supporting the shooter who murdered children and teachers. Apparently you can't.
Im pretty sure that the infrastructure that got blown up was a refinery which would push the oil price down not up. So what else then fear are you suggesting being the reason for the cost increase?
It's been that way forever. Fear and speculation drive the markets. Even before the money markets of today, goods and services were bought/sold/traded with the same influences. It's not just a crap timeline, it's because humans are living in it.
This is Iran interrupting Trump's usual pattern of market deception . He wanted to manipulate the market. But after Labor Day is considered the "official start" of campaign season, so Iran will no longer play this game and knows that Trump will be under more pressure as elections get closer. They also know that Trump is likely to change his mind AFTER the election on whatever is signed, so expect them to make things so bad that America has to back off
I’m actually starting to get tired of so much winning.
In all seriousness. This is a medium to long term issue. Add the fact that we just started a trade war with our largest foreign source of energy, there’s absolutely no way the macroeconomic picture will improve come November.
Well if you are soo tried of all the winning, do the world a huge favour and grab 50 million mates and protest out side the Whitehouse daily until the orange fuckwit and his mates are all in jail
I wonder of anyone has actually thought about the 'real' price of oil by now. Because the price we discuss all the time is just the base, but not the rest. Everything in the chain has already become more expensive and would basically be a part of the 'real' price. So we are already talking about oil being somewhere well into the 100 dollar plus area in 'real' terms.
Man, that EV purchase in 2022 is paying off in spades!
The only disadvantage is that I don't have as many opportunities to put the Trump "I did that" stickers on gas pumps.
In all seriousness, I wonder how long it will take to recover from this war and rebuild the US strategic oil reserves. I have to imagine it will be several years, if not a decade, and that's assuming someone has the political will and foresight to actually do it in a smart way.

Instead of blaming "The Epstein Class," how about blaming all the people who keep voting for Trump?

Why not both?
