More assault allegations surface against footballers in tiny town of Balmoral

Truly reprehensible. It's galling for the football club to say "false accusations can ruin men's lives", when being convicted of rape in two trials had no such impact on the rapists Shaun Bloomfield and Luke Merryfield. They continue to live their lives coddled and protected by the community. The community is rotten to the core. I hope the podcast and these articles continue to shine a light on Balmoral. They don't deserve a moments rest.

My greatest wish is for things like this to go the way it did for Brock Turner. That people will never forget and that shame will follow the perpetrators of these sorts of injustice forever.

Please use his full, government name: “Convicted Rapist Brock Turner, Who Now Goes By Allen Turner So People Wont Know He’s a Convicted Rapist.”

Some things are certain in life: death, taxes, and the internet reminding us about Convicted Rapist Brock Turner, Who Now Goes By Allen Turner So People Won’t Know He’s A Convicted Rapist.

Yep the whole logic of “she was embarrassed for what she did so she decided to totally ostracize herself and entire family on the small chance the perpetrators might far consequence” is so absurd.

I’m thrilled they’re getting international attention for their protection of predators

Same. The town’s comfort in ostracising the rape victim didn’t suddenly come from nowhere.

Some locals were clearly even more important than others. And obviously, local or not, rape victims should be treated with dignity & respect.

> Hamish Griffiths, a trainer for the seniors team, told the ABC he thought the club's response to the 2016 rape was no different to what many other towns would do.

>”This place is a cross-section of society," he said.

>”Because in their mind, they're not sticking up for rapists, they're sticking up for boys that did nothing wrong."

The attitude of “well it’s the way it would be handled everywhere” is disgusting. No concept of and it shouldn’t happen like that anywhere. No concept of wondering why the ‘girl’ wasn’t stuck up for. Trash, the lot of them.
