I would normally remove this as business news but there's a bit of meta here as Lobsters is currently hosted on Digital Ocean and I'd like to have a place to track that.
I made this same connection yesterday. I also emailed DO to ask for a response from the business, and pinged again this morning. If I get a response I'll post it on this story.
Peter's linked comment from yesterday was in response to this:
The same Digital Ocean whose CEO tried to tell his employees that ‘my old mentor was in the KKK, so you should bend your principles to accommodate transphobes’?
which in turn was a response to a story about the Omarchy donation. I was mostly referring to that.
It's very disappointing. I followed CSS Tricks religiously in The Before Times, and a number of great frontend-focused publications have popped up in its wake, but none hit quite the same as CSS Tricks did in it's prime.
Sad! I have CSS-Trick's guide to flexbox in my bookmarks toolbar. It's a fantastic reference.
Probably a good time to start archiving your favourite articles + guides from there I guess.
No reason not to have a personal copy as well. I love that the Internet Archive exists, but I fear that having only one centralized place for this is putting way too many eggs into one basket. Especially given how the past years have increasingly shown how easy it is to shut down sites and organizations.

Do you think this might result in us moving away from DO?

It'd be kind of crazy to imagine that this was the final straw for leaving DO and not something like financially supporting a racist POS.
