I wish one of those who marked it as off-topic could give their reasoning why. The title is quite baity, I admit that, but the content is a technical breakdown and not an opinion piece.
I thought it was on-topic. When you post about LLMs, you'll generally draw some flags. This one also had a couple style quirks that made my eye twitch and caused me to think it might have been partly edited by the subject of the article or one of its competitors. (I don't think it was, but sometimes when people recognize those, they flag, too.)
I think it was a good share and you shouldn't worry about the flags :-). But maybe tag it vibecoding so that people who don't want to touch that topic at all don't see it.
I assume you're saying the simple solution is "don't use ChatGPT". And while I embrace that solution personally, I might also choose to be more aggressive in blocking openai's ad servers, now that I see what they're doing.

I think that's probably wise as a protective measure if they get more aggressive with their tracking (based on the writeup, this one is specifically scoped to a cookie created on using ChatGPT). It looks like one of the default uBlock Origin lists, "EasyPrivacy" (one of the ones maintained by AdBlock) is blocking bzr.openai.com and bzrcdn.openai.com already

ChatGPT shows ads, so I assume this is only used for ad personalization. I don't know if this is particularly worse than what Google or Meta does.
(Also, apologies if I'm wrong but I get the feeling this was written by Claude.)
