Vaccines are arguably one of mankind’s greatest accomplishments in medicine. It’s a preemptive “cure”, in essence, to some of the craziest things that have killed people or left them debilitated.

It's been the Republican modus operandi for my entire life, under-fund or do whatever to break a government service and pretend that it's inherently broken just like anything else government run. Anything to appease the private sector at the cost of public good.
