This is the final ping you will receive from me for Timasomo 2026. You will receive a one-time ping for the announcement topic of Timasomo 2027.
For those posting their work in the showcase, I strongly encourage you to also make your own topics showcasing your work in their respective tildes (e.g. ~life, ~tech, etc.). This showcase is only visible to those subscribed to ~creative.timasomo, but the wider Tildes audience will undoubtedly appreciate your efforts as well.
Also, you are more than welcome to share your projects elsewhere online. They are your projects, not Timasomo's, so share them however you see fit!
I already posted about it but I finally took my weather game more seriously.
Gave it a makeover with all the features that I wanted to think of and it has shown me that developing fun games like this is something I really like doing. Is it something that I can earn money with? Most likely not, let's be realistic. But I had (and am having) fun working on it.
I also "spent big" and got a domain for it to make it more: https://tempdle.com/
There's already a thread in Tildes about it.
Thanks for all the effort. Admittedly I did all this at the last moment so I didn't quite have any updates in the other threads. Thanks Kfwyre in any case! The notifications made me think about making something and here we go. :)
Alright, I managed to finish on time despite being sick so that’s good.
Here is my final result. It’s an album of the project progress, finished results at the end. Pretty happy with how these guys turned out, but I definitely made a couple of mistakes. And yes, I did manage to lose the primed head I had so one of them is headless until I prime my next batch of stuff. Don’t mind the decal shifting in the last photos, they hadn’t set when I took the picture and I didn’t notice they shifted until later, but they have been fixed!
Thanks Timasomo, I really did not feel like painting near the end of the month but the added pressure kept me going :P. I’m always going to remember painting these guys because I was putting on the finishing touches while watching the US midterm results roll in. Talk about cathartic!
They're not the best looking thing I've ever made, but for the low low cost of free, I'm happy (enough) with them. In update #2 I discussed if I wanted to use 3" wood screws or 3" lag screws, for how heavy dimensional lumber can be. I ended up going with 3" wood screws so I wouldn't have to counter sink a hole for the screw heads, and they hold up just fine.
I made a Minecraft mod! The best way to experience it is to play it, but the second best way is to look at the screenshot gallery (and then read the behind-the-scenes of the screenshots).
This is the second "proper" Minecraft mod I've made (the first being Tiny Flowers), and once again I had to do something slightly weird with how things are drawn in-game. In Tiny Flowers I have to load different models for each flower and submit them to be drawn manually in order to avoid a combinatorial explosion that eats up memory and makes the game take 5 minutes to start up. In Leadlight I have to draw literal triangles in a game whose only shape is a square. Each segment of the window frames can be individually filled, and it can also connect to different sides, leading to there being lots of different shapes that need to be drawn.
I also had to do modelling and texturing for each of the different shapes of window frame. I find textures so hard to do, and what's in the mod now is like the 5th full revision of the textures. I do also plan on adding new frame materials for the other metals in the game, but this means doing more textures (doing a simple palette swap is not up to my standard, it really does not look good) and I really don't want to do that right now.
It was great having having this event to get the motivation and keep it going. I also entered my mod into Spooky Jam, since I figured stained glass windows could be used to make some spooky builds and I did make the mod entirely within October. I'll have to think about what I'll make next year!
I have not posted updates. I have been kind of obsessed, improving the space sim I shared here earlier this year. I've been working on this for a while a lot, and most recently I have been so hyperfixated that I would say I spent over 70h a week on it in October. Let's just say I am exagerrating so I keep my sanity.
As for things that I have added to it:
a freeflight mode, where you can explore the Solar system in it's massive scale (it's still quite boring, but I am sure eventually this will be more fun
You're now able to sign up (a prerequisite for all the stuff that's to come)
A preparation for a teacher mode, in which a teacher can teach a class, see students join, their progress, and have interactive phyiscs lectures
a mode where you can film your scene (which I think helped the tool grow tremendously from 500-1000 daily users to 2-3k daily users)
bodies at the roche limit get torn apart
preparations for auditory experiences, kind of making music and experiencing everything without having to look at it
and the thing I consider the magnum opus: An agentic “copilot” of sorts. It allows users to interact with the tool without having to go and hunt for buttons and menus. Many users just wanna see: how can I do this, and the copilot either helps you do it - which I think is super cool for people with disabilities and potentially blind users interacting with their voice. I’ll do a full technical writeup on this eventually.
Everything (except for the website) is served on my own VPS, connected via tailscale to my home network where my 2 DGX sparks sit, but later I realized that thanks to the Claude for Startups program, I have quite a lot of API credits to spend - so I allowed users to use Claude Haiku (which for the price has an absurd performance in the right harness) and now since my credits are about to reset, I have upgraded everyone to Sonnet for a few hours (as long as the spending stays under the limit)
I have been working on this a lot, and I am pursuing potential collaborations to turn this into a fully fledged fun physics education game. How many other educational games have thousands of daily users?

Previous update.
It's done! And decorated with Legos.

Thank you for hosting this and I’m glad I signed up. First time participating! It was fun to be part of it.
I made a dedicated post here. It’s a fantasy short story based on writing prompts from a solo journaling RPG. I called the story “Bookworm’s Journey.”
