There’s a whole lot more that the article goes through. Really a terrible combination of heat, bad nutrition, bad ground water, insanely hot working conditions, discrimination based on lost teeth, environmental injustice, and the list goes on.

What's interesting is the climate crisis is actually NOT created on the other side of the world - the highest emissions come neighboring countries to Pakistan. But they do so to feed the relentless consumption of Europe and the USA so it's more or less accurate anyway
I vaguely recall that Pakistan holds some of the hottest traditionally inhabited places on Earth, with temperatures over 130F for weeks in the summer, and that lifestyles have evolved into using that period as a period of intense rest
