Women’s rights are on a sharp decline in Israel. Advocates blame Netanyahu’s far-right government

Seems like people use religion as a right to be bigoted and cruel instead of seeing it as a responsibility to be kind and uplifting.

This is why women turning to the right to "protect women's spaces" from a handful of trans women is such a terrible miscalculation. It's like a mouse fleeing towards a cat for protection. It's not Israel specific, it's any right wing movement from any religion or culture.

If you believe God gave you the land, then you have to take the whole package with it. You don't get to customize theocracy.

If the holy book is right about the land ownership, then it is right about everythign else too. That is the Faustian deal that every Israeli woman signed up for.

Religion is the pinnacle of customization. There's literally no such thing as practicing religion as it was written or intended. Every single person will have a slightly different understanding of their faith. Every single cult will have a different theology, even if they are part of the same broad religion.

It's like breaking Families down into Species and individuals. Just because they share a few labels does not make them the same. And it also does not mean the group will stay exactly the same as new challenges come up.

So you're saying they're asking for it?

No that's not how belief works.

Sorry, but respectfully: "Fuck em"

My sympathy has run dry for a country that systematically kills, starves, maims and rapes its neighbor.

Its like telling me that the wives of kukluxklan members don't have rights. I don't give a shit.

This happens anytime a government takes a hard right turn and the courts go along with it. Those in power work from an authoritarian playbook to consolidate and keep power. Any threats that appear left of their intended trajectory get suppressed. Women's rights are clearly one of those threats. It's currently happening in a number of western liberal democracies.

I am shocked! Shocked, I tell, you! To find ~~gambling~~ patriarchy in this ~~establishment~~ far-right theocratic state! Shocked!

Seriously, nobody is actually surprised about this. It's what authoritarians do, it's how they appease their power base, it's how they feel like big strong men enforcing the Great Chain of Being or whatever weird psychosexual theology they enforce on society to legitimize their rule. Every authoritarian movement on the planet is more or less the same once you apply a fresh coat of paint for the local religion or preferred tribal affiliation of the population you're trying to con.

One of the most nerve wrecking / nail biting drama I've ever watched. Should be shown in schools: Gett

Ethno states should not be allowed to buy weapons or advanced tech from the western world.

Would women please stop dressing like that? Wear real clothes and show how women are not what the patriarchy wants you to be.

This is from the handmaids tale

Dude, I know where the costume came from. I am tired of seeing women show up to protest wearing it.
