Submissions tenuously related to economics, light on economic analysis, or from perspectives other than those of economists will be removed. This will keep /r/economics distinct from the many related subreddits. Further explanation.

If you have any questions about this removal, please contact the mods.

precision1k3 | 13 hours ago

The only value a relatively anonymous platform like this has is the number of people engaging in the comment threads.

You’re telling me low effort bot comments that repeat the same contrived jokes over and over and over and take up 90% of all early threads aren’t adding value to the company??

Drak_is_Right | 12 hours ago

Yup. Get rid of the bots and improve human engagement.

reluctant_deity | 12 hours ago

Haha no way they cut more than half their "users"

Popular-Row4333 | 12 hours ago

It's the path to sustained growth, but lord knows investors just want short term results with the line always going up.

Problem with that method is you get -30% days occasionally.

reluctant_deity | 12 hours ago

Even if they wanted to, how would they? A lot of them are easy to spot, but most aren't, and mass purges always lead to a lot of false positives.

hutacars | 9 hours ago

Removing anonymity. Scan your state/national ID to create a Reddit account, Coming Soon^TM.

poeir | 11 hours ago

It also eventually collapses.

The web site is dependent on real people to make money. Bots don't buy anything. End users don't want to engage with bots. If they conclude they're engaging with bots, they simply leave and never return. It is harder to get a use back than to get a new user—and eventually, you run out of new users.

9Implements | 11 hours ago

Meanwhile every mod I know has had an account banned for an inexplicable reason and Reddit has no active system to get them back.

mrjackspade | 9 hours ago

They're working on it, TBH.

I have and maintain a third party client for personal use, and periodically I have to update to work around more hoops they've put into place.

Over the past few weeks they've added even more restrictions to the web endpoints, locking down how/where you can use specific API tokens.

It's not gonna do shit until they start enforcing a captcha though. It takes like < 5 minutes to get around. I don't even use the API token anymore, I just fake an old reddit session.

JawnZ | 8 hours ago

Revanced Patches literally fixed whatever they broke on RIF yesterday.

Maybe instead of wackamole they could fix the stuff people don't like?

mrjackspade | 8 hours ago

What they broke involved closing oauth session loopholes, which I assume is aimed at protecting against bots.

Since people don't like bots, I think that qualifies as fixing stuff people don't like.

The issue is that the unsanctioned third party clients, my own included, abuse the same loopholes that bots would. So closing the bot loopholes is going to continue breaking third party clients.

boeings_door_plug | 12 hours ago

The bots are one thing, but I think sub moderation is what kills this website's potential. You're at the whim of some ban-happy, hyper sensitive basement dweller with an agenda. Because Reddit is sensitive to ban evasion (rightfully so), your account is at risk if you go around your ban. This means participating in your favorite places aren't an option unless you jump through a bunch of hoops.

I don't participate anywhere near as much as I used to because of how sensitive some of the losers who run this website are.

WitheredUntimely | 12 hours ago

They let one guy take over r/atlanta who had some sort of pychosis about moderating content around Covid and systematically killed it off, it took months of concerted campaigning from other people to even get Reddit to listen, talking a sub with hundreds of thousands of members representing a major US city, silenced for years, because one guy refused to let others become mods and decided only one of three topics were allowed.

I'm only on Reddit as the rest of the internet has collapsed on itself and I'm incredulous that this place is even publicly traded, its administration is beyond clownshoes

RIPFishMahBoi | 9 hours ago

> I'm only on Reddit as the rest of the internet has collapsed on itself

I'm with you and it really sucks to watch this site get hollowed out as well.

TheVenetianMask | 12 hours ago

I'm mod in a city sub. Part of the problem is that it's entirely volunteer work (some big subs probably have something going on though) which means nobody is there making it their day job to go through every posting.

You'll always have a mix of broad automoderation rules, mob rule from user reports, and a shotgun/drive-by moderation approach that tries to catch the most egregious stuff within a moderate amount of time.

This $17 billion market cap site values most of the moderation at exactly zero dollars, and it kinda shows.

Suitable-Economy-346 | 11 hours ago

City subreddit moderation has to be awful. Everyone is unbelievably bigoted in local subreddits for some reason. If someone posts a crime story, it doesn't matter if zero details are in news story, people will immediately go hardcore racist, xenophobic, start saying cops/prosecutors let everyone off, we need to start rounding up homeless people, a bunch of "I previously voted for the left leaning candidate but i think it's time for Na zis to take over now to clean up the streets," etc.

YourFuture2000 | 12 hours ago

Why AskHistorians and similar subs are so well moderated despite of all moderators being volunteers like any other?

I think the problem is not moderators being volunteers. Many of the best things from the internet and irl were done by volunteers.

I think the problem are the kind of people choosing to do the job of moderation. It requires some basic emotional maturity and communication skills to deal with people, specially when the public is a big immature with low nuance understanding and low communication skills one.

TheVenetianMask | 11 hours ago

The crowd at AskHistorians isn't probably the most rowdy around to be honest.

Like 19 out of 20 troublemakers I see are fishing for targeted, current politics controversies, there's a lot of variance about how suitable a subreddit is for that.

YourFuture2000 | 11 hours ago

You can see how low and similar the users there are similar to many other common subs, when you read open topics. Otherwise you don't notice much that because whatever comment is not an educated response to the question, and whatever comment that start any type of conflict because of not disliking whatever somebody says, are very quickly deleted by moderators. They don't last long for people to see. In fact, in most topics in AskHistorians, most replies are deleted. And moderation are very good at demanding academic standard responses since they are academics themselves.

Mainwhile, most other subs moderators are seeing people attacking and disrespecting each other and not keeping on the topic with eristic dialects and moderators do nothing.

twenty_three_three | 11 hours ago

There is likely a sub-reddit owner that's actually vetting moderators in those cases. And it comes down to them enforcing certain standards.

The alternative case is stuff like r kdrama where I'm pretty sure that industry (or perhaps govt/national) individuals are strictly enforcing a ruleset for growth of said media and harvesting survey data.

monetarydread | 12 hours ago

Also AI moderation is getting fairly extreme lately.

Two weeks ago I had a 3 day suspension because I was talking about a video game segment that involved the MC k*lling another character. Apparently that is considered threatening violence and nobody even looked at my appeal.

3 days later I am allowed to comment again so I go into a thread asking what the most horrible thing President Obama did was and I brought up the news story of what Obama did to Abdulrahman al-Awlaki and apparently that is also a bannable offense now. Due to the fact that nobody looked at my appeal from two weeks ago, I was suspended for 1 week.  I would explain why I thought this is one of the worst things Obama did but explaining historic news articles is a bannable offense now.

Like, what is even the point of Reddit anymore if users can't even have a discussion about a real even that happened in 2011 because they will get banned?  Something needs to change.

Also, if you are looking for examples of stupid mods banning people for stupid reasons then I have to bring up how I was banned from r/Worldnews because I said "Sociology is arguably a pseudoscience."

GolbatsEverywhere | 10 hours ago

I got flagged for threatening violence because I pasted this quote from a local news article in which one politician explained that she wants to shoot another politician. I didn't add any text of my own, only the quote.

reddit did approve my appeal one day later, though.

I guess it doesn't matter too much anymore. I post here because reddit is fairly open. If it's going to lock down, reddit certainly won't be the right place for me anymore.

Edit: finally realized I am in /r/Economics. I suppose I'm a little lost....

greenroom628 | 11 hours ago

Yep. Pretty similar - was banned for an opinion about a certain person's medical condition for three days (I mean, this person had severely bruised hands and facial droop) and then seven days because I spoke about an idea that would completely overwhelm the mind of a certain person in the current administration.

both instances were deemed "as threatening speech."

anewleaf1234 | 11 hours ago

I was given a few days banning because I said a true think about Israel they didn't like.

InsertUsernameInArse | 10 hours ago

Yeah im banned off several subs for that.

CatCatchingABird | 9 hours ago

I didn't get banned, but one of my posts was flagged for saying "ladybug" in a topic about Lindsay Graham. If I remember correctly it was for using derogatory language.

I_wanted_to_be_duck | 12 hours ago

The amount of times I've read a post and am about to comment just to find out that some mod removed the post with no reason given when it's a popular most is absolutely astonishing.

When I was a mod (I know) I'd let posts ride out like that with a sticky comment saying it's not within sub context but keep it up since it has engagement. Removing anything came with a reason stickied as well.

The amount of bans that some of the mods I was with was also crazy, ended up going through and unbanning users that were unfairly treated.

[OP] One-Emu-1103 | 10 hours ago

I've had a couple with 1.5 million plus views which was removed from r/ news AFTER it reached that number of views for no reason given. Then I was banned from it without a being given a reason.

hutacars | 9 hours ago

> The amount of times I've read a post and am about to comment just to find out that some mod removed the post with no reason given when it's a popular most is absolutely astonishing.

That's basically every post on this sub, for some reason.

jdprgm | 12 hours ago

Yeah it's really out of control and de-incentives posting. I've tried some reddit alternatives but they are unfortunately just too empty. Even reddit often feels empty lately. It seems the vast majority of people have just accepted not meaningfully participating in any sort of general online community.

Fearless-Basil-6644 | 9 hours ago

People have left. It's the same posts over and over again. If you don't know what the adjenda is you get banned without warning, etc. I won't be here after today.

krombough | 12 hours ago

Yup. I got banned from one of my favourite book subs because I didnt realize one of the mods liked a character waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more than I did.

Scarlet_Ripple92 | 12 hours ago

100% this…

Popular-Row4333 | 12 hours ago

I got banned fron r/Canada simply because I stated that having unfettered immigration wasn't a recipe for good outcomes if the infrastructure couldn't keep up.

This was in 2023, no racism, no derogatory calls, nothing. But at the time, that wasn't the popular opinion, so I got a ban. Asked to appeal once, they said something about dont ask again or I would get a perma ban, like wtf?

Bulletloader | 12 hours ago

I was pulled over for referring to Carol Vordermans tits as pillows

Suitable-Economy-346 | 11 hours ago

You seem to have a lot of bans and posts about immigration. While also posting in some very interesting subreddits too...

https://www.reddit.com/r/IntellectualDarkWeb/comments/1esjeb7/the_post_about_mass_immigration_and_the_working/li70fpf/

Like, there are plenty of xenophobic and racist subreddits for you to join for your opinions. Crying about bans when you know damn well who you are and what you're pushing is misleading and deceitful. Common for your type, but it's good to let everyone else know.

Popular-Row4333 | 11 hours ago

What did I say that was racist? I literally wrote exactly what the ban was for.

And pulling up post history from a hidden profile is peak, "I have too much time on my hands."

candykissnips | 11 hours ago

That person is really just proving your point about Reddit.

Mammoth-Path-6520 | 12 hours ago

yeah if you get banned you're not supposed to talk to the moderators

99% of the time they'll just double down like basement dwelling losers and become even more aggressive, no matter what you say

don't worry, these people likely have no lives

SmaugTheMagnificent- | 12 hours ago

That sub is a cesspool anyways. You're not missing anything.

sworl5 | 11 hours ago

Its honestly incredible that this website even still has counter opinions, because usually that stuff just gets nuked from orbit for the last 15 years.

The fact it isn't a total echo chamber despite that is hilarious to me.

p0ison1vy | 9 hours ago

I mean, most of fhe time it is an echo chamber... some topics more than others.

MrGDPC | 12 hours ago

Perma-banned from r\news here for using the phrase "Charlie Kirk Breathing Apparatus"

[OP] One-Emu-1103 | 10 hours ago

At least they told you why. They banned me for no reason or at least they never told me what the reason was

Charming_Raccoon4361 | 11 hours ago

yah whats wrong with canadian subreddits? you can not mention india, and immigration and you get a ban warning all the time.

fredthefishlord | 12 hours ago

Hmmm, if you see some of the BS moderators have to deal with quietly removing, I think you'd see that there is some benefits to it

ForMoreYears | 12 hours ago

AI moderation is killing engagement. I've now been permabanned from 3 main subs for no reason. No warning, no removed comments, no explanation. Nothing. Just a message in my inbox that says you've been permanently banned.

[OP] One-Emu-1103 | 10 hours ago

I got a 7 day suspension from one sub for spamming the queue. Even though you're allowed 5 posts a day I submitted 2 in under 10 minutes so instant suspension

Scarlet_Ripple92 | 12 hours ago

r/lebowski has some of the worst and tough mods out here banning anyone…. For a group of dudes that’s supposedly chill they suck… and then there’s every othersub

Medical-Button-5493 | 9 hours ago

Yes and if you mentioned certain topics that the very rich were worried about in 25 or early 26 you would get perma banned. Things related to real estate becoming available with beaches in the middle east because no one lives there anymore.

Efficient-Youth-6985 | 9 hours ago

yep, it sucks

especially when it's e.g. person A screaming and yelling at person B, till person B is 'shut up, idiot' -> 'you're both in the wrong! bans for everyone'

not everything has to be both sided

AGreasyPorkSandwich | 9 hours ago

Yep. Have been on the wrong end of a mod with a grudge. Fucked up my whole experience. Killed a 10+ year account that built multiple subreddits.

Havent cared as much since.

Tourist_Careless | 9 hours ago

this is the best analysis in this thread. So much on reddit is attributed to bots when in reality its redditors themselves and the mods.

Its just constant one sided propaganda slop and people desperate to push the same (often reflexively anti-US) narratives and snarky talking points at every turn. You can practically predict what the top ten comments in every thread will be. ITs the same, over and over.

Between mods constantly weeding out everyone and the fact that alot of normies left after things like the election or world cup - where shit did not at all go how reddit assured everyone it would - its gotten increasingly bad here.

Cdub7791 | 9 hours ago

I can see that argument, but personally I drifted to reddit over the years because there was either essentially no moderation on other sites and they became overrun with toxic trolls, or the moderation was so tight it makes real dialog almost impossible. Not saying reddit is perfect, far from it, but I haven't found a decent alternative.

Mammoth-Path-6520 | 12 hours ago

agreed

already i've been banned out of 2 investment subreddits because a butt hurt basement dweller got upset at a comment and pressed the ban button

it's kind of funny that this site is a publically traded company

GreyBoyTigger | 11 hours ago

Power tripping fedora sporting moderators have been around since talk boards were invented. That isn’t the issue

Ad revenue is garbage because nothing here can be monetized like TikTok or IG. If I’m some new up and coming influencer there’s no way I’m bothering with reddit

oooshi | 11 hours ago

fr. I was banned from /fauxmoi for talking about class privilege. literally just said something like “traveling is a privilege, most of the world can’t vacation” under a comment about the privilege of traveling on a dua lipa post lol. surprising im even still on the app since im still annoyed about that

DB-CooperOnTheBeach | 11 hours ago

I got banned from commenting on a sub for a popular video game. No warning, nothing. Just noticed I couldn't reply or post. And I didn't post anything offensive or break any rules. In fact it was a reply to someone being immature about a position on the element of gameplay and I stated why I disagreed.

Now I didn't visit the sub or engage, which means less traffic from me

Ok_Temperature1502 | 11 hours ago

I agree 100% with your comment.

bautofdi | 10 hours ago

Everyone is too soft these days. You can streamline everything to your own views without leaving your comfort zone. I’ll engage in conversation with people and get blocked immediately. 🤣

moreesq | 9 hours ago

I wholeheartedly agree with you. Four years ago I said something on the Ukraine sub Reddit that got me banned and I am unable to find out why that happened, can’t do anything about it, and who has the power to perpetually ban someone? It troubles me all the time because I would like to contribute to that vital discussion, and I am not a bot.

Cozab938 | 9 hours ago

I’ve received over half a dozen ban notices from unknown subs for comments I can’t identify. Is there a place that has this info?

business idea:

So_HauserAspen | 10 hours ago

I like the cut of your jib, dust4ngel.  Look, we don't normally offer an executive position in our overvalued company, but in this case, I think we should make the exception.

There's definitely an office occupied by a junior VP with an advanced degree in a relevant field that we could move out to the cubicle farm.  How about a nice window office.  Maybe a corner?

We could use another crony with no idea what they're doing while demonstrating absolute confidence in their actions on our team.

There's got to be a few well intentioned, hard workers on the floor that we could eliminate.  After all, we're gonna need to free up some budget to cover your seven figure salary.

What do you think?

stephcurrysmom | 11 hours ago

The whole internet has become astroturfed, but this site has suffered from a dilution of the amount of informative and trily detailed posts being upvoted and cherished. I have been here since 2008 or 9 and recall titles getting downvoted for spelling errors, posts getting downvoted for spelling and factual errors, bad jokes getting downvoted to oblivion and it just doesn’t happen anymore. People on here are dumber than they were ten years ago and the content has suffered tremendously. The content is also the product!

[OP] One-Emu-1103 | 9 hours ago

A lot of posts are being engaged by bots not actual people which is why it seems that way.

place909 | 11 hours ago

How long before this post is reposted by a bot, and your top comment too?

makemeking706 | 11 hours ago

To be clear, its the bots that are the problem. We had a good decade of repeating jokes and thriving.

This place makes money by mind control through algorithms. They need more human users to keep making money. We can’t turn into Nazis twice.

Rodot | 12 hours ago

You're close but not quite. Reddit makes money the way other social media platforms do: ads or membership. There's been a long standing silent contract for the way free internet services work.

A service has users. Companies give money to the service to deploy ads that reach those users. Those users see those ads (here's the mind control part) and purchase those companies products.

In this loop, the service makes money on the ads. The company makes money from the users. And the users get to use the service without direct payment (or they pay for the privilege of browsing without ads).

As "users" grow, the service becomes more expensive to maintain. If many of these "users" are not users, but bots, then ads become a weaker return on investment as they are getting fewer human views as a percentage of total views for the same cost per view.

Eventually someone somewhere realizes that serving such ads is not returning the ROI that is expected. So the service either makes ads cheaper (which means less revenue to run the site) or tries new ways to monitize (ads are put back into paid subscription accounts, add forced logins or API restrictions to reduce service load, be less selective about ad partners, etc).

Users soon start to recognize the site is becoming more difficult to interact with and create new terminology such as "enshittification" to describe the decline in the user experience. As the quality declines users begin to leave.

As users leave the platform the proportion of bots to users increases. Somewhere along the way advertisers start to recognize they aren't getting the same ROI on their ads.

The cycle continues.

At some point the company gets into enough financial distress that it can either be taken private or bought by another company (well, sold off by it's parent company). And from there you either have someone try to revitalize the website but fail because its community is long gone (e.g. MySpace), bank roll it at a total loss (e.g. Twitter), or just integrate it as a side component of a broader ecosystem (whatever Meta is doing with Facebook).

Rarely, will something like this come back unless they own a ton of additional assets or subsidiaries to keep them afloat. Reddit does not. Reddit no longer offers anything unique. Reddit, in an attempt to mimic the success of other social media has removed the qualities that differentiated it. The abandoned their userbase in the hopes of dipping into a different one. Which worked at first, it did increase the number of users, but it didn't really take them from their competitors either who do the same thing but better.

twenty_three_three | 11 hours ago

> Users soon start to recognize the site is becoming more difficult to interact with and create new terminology such as "enshittification" to describe the decline in the user experience.

You describe the conundrum well. The only correction i'd have is that the 'enshittification' term wasn't coined by users, it was coined by Cory Doctrow in his book "Enshittification: Why Everything Suddenly Got Worse and What to Do About It"

hutacars | 9 hours ago

Possible-Tangelo9344 | 10 hours ago

The best things Reddit had was current event and topics, and loads of info to look up.

Like, it's great coming here seeing people talk about stuff happening now in my state sub. Or, on really any topic that was posted now.

And it's great having a question about something and being about to type it in Google, add "Reddit" and find a post from a decade ago answering exactly what I need to know.

What sucks is now my default page has stuff that's 5-7 days old, no one's commenting on it and the conversation has moved on.

Or I'll search a topic and the comments are "oh thanks that helped!" but the answer was deleted

SmaugTheMagnificent- | 13 hours ago

Its worst day ever so far.

God this 140 character limit is ridiculous. I can understand not allowing lmfaoooo and nothing else, but to have to bullshit another paragraph for no reason is dumb.

NickDerpkins | 12 hours ago

Tbf tho this is a time when “lmfaoooo” is apt

FlyingBishop | 12 hours ago

Yeah I mean at risk of changing the subject, if they're going to allow posts about Trump on this sub, they can't have a minimum character limit, Trump's shit is not deep enough to merit a serious reply.

DasFunke | 12 hours ago

The correct way to get that many characters was an ascii meme of the Simpsons.

honkballs | 11 hours ago

hutacars | 9 hours ago

TBF, your initially-intended comment is about as constructive as "lmfaoooo." Hence the min limit.

SmaugTheMagnificent- | 9 hours ago

Oh I know.

bassrooster | 12 hours ago

But the ad revenue must be good, ads are very prominent and profitable… and the embedded advertising posts are profitable. Reddit is just still trying to figure how to stop the external auto bots for capitalizing more than their internal bots…

ApatheticAndProud | 12 hours ago

Every time I am interested in something, if I dare get a phone call, have to respond to a person or for any reason should my phone go dark… Reddit be like, “fuck what you were reading, ima refresh yo shit!”

It’s fucking maddening!

This is deserved

Shemozzlecacophany | 10 hours ago

Glad it's not just me with the page refresh bullshit. It's infuriating! I expect it's so they can refresh the ads and don't give a shit about the user experience.

8bitmullet | 9 hours ago

Happy_Feet333 | 10 hours ago

What?

It sounds like you're using their app, and not just going to the site via your phone's web browser.

It's a much better experience going to Reddit via a web browser, compared to the app.

Mackinnon29E | 12 hours ago

Don't really need to read this go know that it's because of the Bots ruining and reposting garbage and trying to use engagement to psy op the fuck out of everyone.

And then half the real people are teenagers who are extremely confident in their statement (which is of course generally garbage).

Wellsy | 11 hours ago

Reddit as a platform feels like it’s lost a lot of lustre. It’s a lot of bots and unhinged ranters, and overzealous mods who let nonsense slide but ban serious discussions. The market is looking at the product and saying nah. And the users on here are starting to pull back and say nah too. Hopefully they course correct, but Reddit is making room for its future competitors by simply dropping the ball.

Tourist_Careless | 9 hours ago

why ask reddit period since its decline in the last few years has been evident? Its a hive of bots, parasocial ideologically captured malcontents, and paid shills for China/Russia.

If you do the google search with "reddit" on the end thing almost all the useful answers are from 5+ years ago. Its getting rarer to see newer threads in the results in any way thats helpful due to the decline.

Fractales | 9 hours ago

Needs more bots promoting ideologies and harder moderation to badn users for not breaking rules... That will get engagement up, and incentivise advertisers and propaganda to be pushed onto the site delivering paid for content to users who ahve been filtered out to consume the content with a hive mind as all real individuals have been banned from communities for not falling inline....

That will do it, any day now... Any day now... Oh no, the whole site is going the way of the dodo as the real users are tired of bots, shill, and moderators trying to control narratives and sell advertising as legit content lol who saw that coming, oh that's right all other sites before reddit who did the same thing and made the same mistakes

TransMuffMaam | 12 hours ago

An insane amount of bots and moderators who ban people left and right. Then you factor in how, like the tide, crappy "vote blue no matter who" memes and posts flood reddit for election season and literally disappear overnight.

Tourist_Careless | 8 hours ago

so....your just gonna keep proving my point lmao?

i said explicitly r/conservative is an echo chamber too. Ill go even further an dsay its a delusional sham of a sub.

That still doesnt address the fact that in a sea of blue leaning content spam you pick the little island of red to be upset about. Im not here to defend them, just pointing out how hilarious it is that you can see the huge echo chamber that is reddit and be like "yeah the conservatives on here are a real problem" lmao.

Rakebleed | 8 hours ago

wtf are they sending the bots after me?

Breddit2099 | 10 hours ago

Proof?

dark-canuck | 9 hours ago

Look at who always posts (same people) and how the censor any opinion, even conservative ones, if it doesn’t align with the talking points

Breddit2099 | 9 hours ago

Then all of Reddit is bots with that logic

Ambitious_Address667 | 9 hours ago

Likenit pretty much is yeah

Breddit2099 | 8 hours ago

That’s not proof of anything bud. That just shows that there’s two users that like to post to the sub.

You tried.

Puzzle-Necked | 12 hours ago

Is that was Elon is spending hundreds of millions one

Colder_Heavens | 10 hours ago

Yeah any mention of a certain foreign lobby organization gets people banned. It is crazy what this place has become.

bryce887766 | 10 hours ago

If you you only looked at Reddit you would of thought Harris would of won with 90% of the vote, when non political subreddits had Harris post that had more upvotes than the regular content it was obvious their campaign paid for bot armies

withmoho | 11 hours ago

Well, the problem is that they don’t ban people left and right. Only right. It’s the biggest politically obsessed echo chamber in the world. Full of dangerous extremists and communists.

MetalWorking3915 | 11 hours ago

This is you wanting everyone to believe its not actually full of russian bots that manipulatr everyone to vote red. Oh wait......is that what this threat is

TransMuffMaam | 10 hours ago

"Everyone I don't agree with is Putin"

Ididnotpostthat | 12 hours ago

Seriously, maybe police ahole mods better and stop being so left leaning. I mean r/pics alone is nuts stupid.

CanaKitty | 12 hours ago

Some subs on here are so weird. Like it’s just supposed to be a pics sub?

foomits | 11 hours ago

come to my sub and say that to my face and see what happens.

whatconscious | 12 hours ago

How dare you go against "tHe MeSsAgE"

Y0___0Y | 11 hours ago

You want the Republicans to win the midterms?

Breddit2099 | 10 hours ago

I mean, I don’t want democrats either

Y0___0Y | 10 hours ago

Better them than the Epstein protection brigade.

Breddit2099 | 9 hours ago

Then why haven’t they released the files eh?

Y0___0Y | 9 hours ago

They did what you’re supposed to do with the files. Use them to prosecute Epstein’s associates. The Biden DOJ used the files to convict Ghislaine Maxwell of sex traficking and put her in prison.

More were coming. They were pressuring Ghislaine to flip. They put her in a regular prison.

And then in comes Epstein’s best friend. No more investigation. And Maxwell gets moved to a nice rich people prison.

I can’t believe you actually believe the dems are just as bad as the GOP on EPSTEIN… When Trump was Epstein’s pal and wrote him a birthday letter talking about a “secret” they share. That he drew a girl’s nude body over.

Why are there so many people like you who can’t see what a piece of shit Trump is? You’re totally blind to it.

Breddit2099 | 9 hours ago

Ain’t reading all that, not worth my time bud. The fact is they haven’t done shit either.

DookieDanny | 10 hours ago

Too much censorship and mod insecurity shown. Im not surprised. Its not what it used to be. Nowhere near. But im still here so all good. Lol

topcheesehead | 9 hours ago

They unbanned this account after it was permanently banned from reddit. Like years of ban. All gone just so they can pump stock numbers for a board. Lol cant wait for this place to tank. Its all bots and racists

Majestic-Volume9996 | 11 hours ago

Did it occur to investors that this website is literally absolutely nothing and could be recreated in like 5 minutes with Grokbot with a better interface?

kris_2111 | 11 hours ago

This is such a dumb take. I'm pretty sure even without an AI assistant you could have cloned Facebook back then. A platform's value comes primarily from its established network, not from how hard it is to create it or how good its UI is. How are you going to convince other people to use your vibe-coded Reddit over the original one? Even if you do, it's going to take years to get to the point where Reddit is.

Majestic-Volume9996 | 11 hours ago

I bet I can get bots reposting the same shit they're reposting here in a matter of days.

I'm not talking about what Reddit used to be. I'm talking about what it is now.

kris_2111 | 11 hours ago

But it became the multi-billion-dollar company it currently is because it used to be the best forum for high-quality authentic conversations on the internet.

Majestic-Volume9996 | 10 hours ago

used to be. Now it's facebook for Zoomers.

Breddit2099 | 10 hours ago

Not even that. It’s just an echo chamber for the left

George0fDaJungle | 10 hours ago

I'm surprised every comment...on a Reddit sub...is about how the stock tanked because Reddit is bad. Putting aside the obvious, did it not occur to anyone that the share price just might possibly maybe be correlated to the sentiment about the AI bubble? And that this has nothing to do with whether there are bots on Reddit or not? Gemini's algorithm and AI summaries have more to do with Reddit's share price than Reddit does.

Can we turn /r/economics into a stock picks subreddit? So far I've seen articles about Reddit stock, Intel stock, and Alphabet stock. Oh, and the potential offering of Anthropic stock. What other stocks can we discuss?

YourFuture2000 | 11 hours ago

I have noticed how low are the stock of XS clothes for adults in stores in Germany. I am forced to shop online and I don't like that.

CryptographerHot4636 | 12 hours ago

Well, since Ukraine blew up some bot farms in Russia, so usership is down. Also power hungry mods banning people left and right becsuse they down agree with people's opinions or getting their feeling hurt caused a lot of people to just leave the site all together.

Apprehensive-Fun4181 | 9 hours ago

Reddits value is in wherever user submitted quality exists and how much we use that.  Reality shows up here first, you just gotta ask the right people as usual.  There's a lot more people of quality available online than we could ever find elsewhere.

Even with somewhat legitimate sources, the fixes needed and details missing can be found now if they are available.

Was Russia a hoax? No.  The proof is here already.  Why nothing is done requires work but there's survival and insight on Reddit too.
