Propaganda, billionaires are the problem, not the solution.

TwoFlower68 | 13 hours ago

We just want you to pay taxes 😭

Guilty_Perception_35 | 12 hours ago

Best I can do is protect some rodents that make being middle class more difficult and expensive

bobmac102 | 9 hours ago

We require biodiversity to live, and protecting it is existential.

The critique here lies in the fact that if you make the majority of your money from environmental destruction, and donate a small percentage of that to environmental protection, you are not materially offsetting that harm. This is further exasperated by the lobbyists who work on Bezos' behalf to gut and weaken government programs and tax efforts that directly support the environment. These people want everything privatized.

That's publicly/propaganda, Bezos doesn't give a fuck about anything that don't make money

tezacer | 12 hours ago

Can confirm. As a last mile driver, I have seen my pay drop in the past couple years. Same routes that used to be $80+ are now $63. Only job where they can legally pay u less as time goes on.

CallMeMrButtPirate | 11 hours ago

That's a nice round number, doesn't smell of green washing bullshit at all

Luditas | 11 hours ago

Cool propaganda... When will you publish real research again? This magazine has become a joke; from being a prestigious science magazine, it's become a rag. Just another one of the bunch 🚫.

Greenwashing

Don-Gunvalson | 8 hours ago

Bezos is donating 0.0002% of his worth to do this

Decent-Debate33 | 14 hours ago

Gee thanks

Evening_Storage_6424 | 9 hours ago

Literally, like who cares fucking pay taxes and livable wage.

Big-Criticism-8137 | 10 hours ago

Ah yes. As soon as people realize and actually feel the effects of what those are tich fucks did to our planet they suddenly start their greenwashing campaign.

FreeAbortionfromDad | 13 hours ago

Say what you'd like about rich people but Leonardo DiCaprio is really big into the environment. He was a long time friend of Dr. Jane Goodall and even gave the eulogy at her funeral. This isn't the first environmental initiative he's led or even donated to

Dottsterisk | 7 hours ago

Agreed.

This is DiCaprio wrangling Bezos’ money for a good cause and Bezos trying to crib some goodwill.

Emily_Postal | 6 hours ago

That bit into the environment since he flies private all the time.

Dottsterisk | 5 hours ago

Industry’s biggest victory in the fight against accountability was convincing people that an individual’s personal travel or plastic use is even a drop in the bucket compared to industrial practices.

HashPandaNL | 6 hours ago

To be fair, I'd probably also fly private if flying public means everyone recognizes me. I can see how that may get stressful rather quickly.

MycoCozmic | 16 hours ago

Wow Jeff’s finna try to save the actual Amazon. Bout damn time.

Pfff, peasants don't deserve their hard earned money. Well..."hard".

Significant-Law-3761 | an hour ago

Why not, pay taxes, or put that money BACK into the economy you skimmed it from--the fucking salamanders need it more than the housing, homelessness, education, medical, take your fucking pick-crisis needs to be corrected? Whatever makes their Yacht trips possible i guess who gives a fuck at least the academy is done giving him honorary Oscar's so we dont have to listen to a speech about the lizard biomes being killed--NOT by their yachts and private jets though.

I don't get the hate here, this is a great thing. Leonardo DiCaprio has been doing amazing work to help save the natural environment for basically as long as he has been an actor. For Jeff Bezos this is spare change to try to greenwash his reputation, but nonetheless the money is very welcome. Many charities are way more dependent on a few big donors than people realize.

delaydude | 10 hours ago

It's a big ol pr move

K1kobus | 9 hours ago

The important part is that there's money going to nature conservation. Who cares if it also serves as a PR move for Bezos, any rational person wouldn't change their opinion on him based on this.

Status-Basic | 20 minutes ago

All for helping endangered animals.

Just would like Bezos to treat humans this well.

costafilh0 | 14 hours ago

  1. Not humans tho. Fvck humans!

HomemadeLightbulb | 8 hours ago

Is one of the species humans?

soolar79 | 13 hours ago

This is correct use of money for Bezos, instead of trying to be Elon, he can build sanctuaries and wild life preservations.

Most_Most_260 | 11 hours ago

At least they trying good in the world unlike the orange beast

Luscious_rat | 11 hours ago

The orange beast supports his kids killing rare animals as a hobby

ballsosteele | 17 hours ago

Because fuck endangered species, amirite?

If they weren't good species they'd not be endangered.

IllustriousAd9800 | 16 hours ago

Did you even read the headline? 🤨 or just the two names?
