Edit - this is a bit of a shock
Lots of downvotes but no comments. I thought this place was above ideological nonsense.
Reminder, the down bote button is NOT a disagree button. It is only supposed to be used for things that don’t add to the discussion. If this does not add the discussion, say why.
The study also said that ivermectin makes people much smarter especially if you love Trump bc they are already so smart. It also said it works best if you go to the middle of nowhere and take it. Please spread the word.
The options after that Ivermectin advice during covid were to
A) admit it was wrong advice and move on
B) Dont admit it was wrong advice but just never mention it again and hope it goes away and people forget.
C) Spend MILLIONS of dollars and put countless peoples lives at risk by dying on that hill and pretending Donalds scientific advice was the best advice and keep spending money and having people lie because they are too weak to admit they were wrong.
Unsurprisingly they chose the last option. This is the same man who said "I didnt do anything wrong" when he posted an overtly racist video depicting Americas only African American President and his wife as monkeys.
To maintain distrust of established medicine. Make Americans hostile to healthcare so they don't demand it. It took off on its own during covid so they are maintaining the interest to keep these people activated on the issue. Anti vax stuff is the same thing. See also: making chemtrails illegal. To keep the conspiratorial part of the population on their side.
See, I believe all that, sadly enough. But what I want to know is why this drug particularly. It went from being something I never heard of, since, y'know, I don't have anything to do with livestock, to this magic panacea. Does one of 'em own the patent to it or something?
It didn't work for COVID. Now maybe it'll work for cancer? How much research money will be spent testing it on every affliction before he finds out it works for worms?
No doubt they’ll find some phantom “efficacy” in order to throw more money at these lunatics willing to conduct foolish studies and cash it research. Follow the money.
Looks like a preclinical study, not too good not too bad. But any physician who gives this to actual cancer patients should lose their license and face criminal charges.
Well, aren’t you all soooo smart. How about reading this article instead, and improving your abilities to formulate your own opinions, instead of regurgitating anti-Trump rhetoric?
Lol as a scientist that's literally what it feels like we do. Only with little more rational behind it.
The thing with ivermectin and other off label things is that they often have off target effects that "might" work for something different. And those hypotheses are often funded. This really isn't out of the normal range of scientific inquiry.
I mean that’s my point though. “With more rationale behind it”.
And I feel like if we’re both being honest we know this has more to do with the MAGA cult finding some justification for their ivermectin claims than actual scientific inquiry.

More wasted tax dollars that should go to actual scientists and actually useful research

And hopefully every MAGA party member with cancer will take this instead of their chemo for therapy.

Unfortunately, like every other MAGA delusion it’s mostly their kids that will suffer.

Because it took 2 years for them to learn how to pronounce it. No sense starting over on something else now.

Unless parasities cause cancer, it's a waste... but they will be worm free (unlike RFK Jr!)

I went to Cabo recently. Saw maga chodes at the pharmacy in the airport loading up with ivermectin to “own the libs.”
Truly sad.
And suuuupppper cringey.

There’s a plot in The Wire where cops manufacture a panic about a fake serial killer and divert the extra funds to solving a real case.
Looks like scientists are going to have to do the same. Pretend you’re doing something idiotic because that’s the only way to fund real work.

That article has literally nothing to fucking do with the OP article. Science isn’t just throwing random shit against the wall to see what sticks.
