How to get a free .arpa domain

Someone hosted a mastodon instance on ip6.arpa a while ago. You used to be able to get a tls cert from letsencrypt back then. But then some spoilsports decided that's a Bad Idea and lobbied the CA/B forum to forbid issuance for such domains.

Found it: https://web.archive.org/web/20260217151047/https://1.6.0.0.8.0.0.b.e.d.0.a.2.ip6.arpa/

Interesting, are there any benefits to this? Or simply, because you can?

because of it being an infrastructure tld, I'd wager it would have some interesting interactions with software like some firewalls or traffic classifiers. It's also interesting as another free domain you can set DNS records on. Though mostly, it's just because you can!
