Severe cystitis, pneumonia or tooth decay could trigger dementia just a few years later

I’ve often noticed how elderly people are affected by UTIs.

My late mother in law was one example - she would experience a level of confusion for the duration, even though she died in her late eighties with great mental faculties

Same with my great grandma. She had frequent UTIs due to social workers not helping her pee when she needed to, and it would heavily impact her memory and behavior each time she had an infection. And quickly resolve once she got antibiotics. She did eventually develop dementia though

And something similar happens in men also

Rest in peace to your MIL.

Delirium is classified as a symptom that can be caused by a large range of issues and UTIs seem to activate that body response frequently. One of the tools of diagnosis I’ve heard of is asking the patient to draw an analog clock, with delirium they will not be capable of doing so.

Just lost my seventh tooth and cant afford a dentist... Wtf

Apprehensive-Slip473 | 16 hours ago

it was nice not knowing ya.

😂 I'll forget I needed the dentist. So there's an up side I guess

I’m here with ya, pal. But into a Vickie’s pickle potato chip & broke off the side of a tooth. This is a day after the side of a lower tooth sheared off the front of it eating a chicken nugget. The inside of my mouth is becoming a foreign landscape to me. At least we’ll have our dementia to rely upon so hopefully we’ll be forgetting the tooth problems even exist soon.

Oh god. It's crazy how fast it starts to fall apart. Chicken nugget doing it is crazy lol. It's always when you least expect it, it feels like.

I swallowed a one of the molars and a filling while eating. Didn't know straight away. So gross.

If it's been, more than a few years maybe you're resistant.

goatsaregreen | 9 hours ago

It's not that. It's the money. It would be so much and I don't live in America where I can go into debt. I literally don't have the money. Every time I try to save life jump up Nd says "hi bitch"

I do get what you mean though. Maybe if I acted faster at the beginning. But now it just pointless. I'm still trying though

Same but it's my third, the good news is that they expecting the tooth growing discovery marketable by 2030, so we will just be able to grow our teeth back. Assuming that's cheaper than implants

goatsaregreen | 9 hours ago

Bad news for us... well, definitely for me. My two front bottom teeth are the ones missing that I can see, and now the tooth on each side have moved closer together creating more gaps. So if my teeth where to grow back they would be 'in the way' of the older teeth.does that make sense. I'm truly F'ed.

Plus, wouldn't that stuff cost so much more than a dentist? We can cure so many diseases but we just don't because of cost.

But I will still hope 🤞 🙏 😭

I wish health insurance covered dental. My dental insurance maxes out at $1200 a year and only covers 50% of procedures. That’s about one root canal and crown and maybe a filling in another tooth, if I am lucky. And the dentists want their money up front. There’s no real payment plans unless you want to take out a high interest credit card they offer.

This is another reason why most all post menopausal women need to be on vaginal estrogen. It has a dramatic, positive effect on genito-urinary health and greatly reduces the risk of UTIs. The estradiol does not become systemic in the body so even many breast cancer survivors can use it.

Low dose insulin is the answer after infection for the elderly. You can also use shrooms for about a week.
