It's wild that two different people have developed something like this though

indeed, they're very different! The older one is minecraft-styled WL compositor and this is wayland inside actual minecraft (which I find a tiny bit more impressive to be honest)

WSL has some components so that you can run graphical applications, including Wayland.

It's merely anecdotical, but the Android emulator gave me quite a bit of trouble, and IIRC, forcing it to use X11 solved my issues.
