I like this submission, because unlike the plethora of expensive "writer's hardware" that might go out of support at any time, this is just Linux without X. Any cheap laptop can be used for this!
There may be a way around the need for a web browser to do research.
Multiple companies offer web search APIs combined with an endpoint to read any website as Markdown. This is intended for LLMs, but who says a human can't take advantage of this?
oh wow this reminds me immediately of ommwriter an old app i bought in 2013 for my first macbook... i recently worked on a riff with tauri and added little pops and clicks to keypresses. very cool.

We have found new ways to procrastinate, and we will continue to do so. 'Tis the birthright of every writer.
My choice is to tinker on a Neovim plugin (ostensibly for novel writing) and a TUI internet radio thingy.

If you can still boot DOS natively, just use something like this instead:

This is tempting, as I also struggle with attention (and enjoy TUIs).
The problem is, all of my writing requires research. And research requires a web browser.

The next tier would be to use neovim’s window management and built-in terminal and ditch tmux.

This reminds me how I resisted installing X because the "only" reason to use it was to browse the web. And who uses the web?
I should get my cholesterol checked.
